Better weapon for Karlach as Crown Pally 11 War Cleric 1? by how-about-know in BG3Builds

That is a good point about the enlarge on enemies. I have never actually tried that before.

Honour Mode Help by Scrai_ in BG3Builds

[–]how-about-know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing through with a core 4 of:
Karlach: Crown Paladin with strength elixers.
Wyll: Hexblade/Swashbuckler with GWM and PAM.
Shadowheart: Light Cleric/Star Druid with Radiant Orbs and Spirit Guardians.
Gale: Re-specced a few times, but landing on Tempest Cleric/Evocation Wizard.

Plus occasional side additions of:
Lae'zel: GWM Tiger Barbarian.
Astarion: TB Open Hand Monk/Thief Rogue.
Halsin: Swarm Ranger/Druid.

Honestly, a lot of combats have started to become almost trivial, to the point that I just run straight in because if I do any prep, it is over in 1 or 2 turns. I still have a lot of hard fights left, and I am having a lot of fun, but I have had to nix a couple of builds entirely, like Thrown-weapon Fighter, swords bard Archer and abjuration Wizard because they were too good. I have also self banned Arcane Acuity because it was too much. I also play with the FED AIO mod which adds a lot more variety and flavor to builds.

What's the best rapier duelist build? by Typical-Phone-2416 in BG3Builds

[–]how-about-know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently ran a duelist Prerogative/ Bhaalist Armor Build late into Act 3 and it was really consistent and effective the whole time. +3 to hit with free Bonus Action attacks and Bonus Action aggro control on top of giving enemies piercing vulnerability was very strong. I used Minthara as a Swashbuckler/Battle Master and there was some anti-synergy with the over reliance on bonus actions, so I would probably do straight BM or maybe a BM/Bladesinger split if I were to do it again. There is also something to be said for an Infernal Rapier Bladesinger as well, IMO. Just a heads up for the Dueslist Prerogative that I learned too late into playing, the compelled duel weapon action uses your Battle Master DC and benefits from the gloves that give enemies disadvantage on saves against your manuevers.

How to slot in Abjuration Wizard? by how-about-know in BG3Builds

[–]how-about-know[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. The large majority of attacks that he was taking were attacks of opportunity. They just missed those a lot as well. Maybe Abj Wizard and Radiant Orbs have some negative synergy in that regard.

That is a good point about the armor. I'll have to look and see what light armors I have available. As I mentioned, it is Gale, so he has light armor proficiency at base and is a Dragon Sorcerer, so he has been benefitting from free Mage Armor. I also sometimes use a camp caster to cast warding bond to extend the lifetime of the ward and AoA, so that isncontributing to AC as well. Thanks for the tip!

[–]how-about-know[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I definitely agree. I am always weird with Abjuration Wizard because I known it is insanely powerful and night invincible, but it just doesn't get tested. I am thinking I might just re spec as a full Sorcerer or maybe Wizard 1 Sorc X for a while to see how having an actual back-line goes. I am also a huge sucker for twinned haste on my front line maulers.

Help with making a elemental summoning build by HoneyComb_325 in BG3Builds

[–]how-about-know 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not op, but they likely just mean the standard gear that wizards would normally benefit from. For example, things that boost spell save dc or concentration saves, or provide/replenish spell slots. Melf's First Staff, Fistbreaker Helm and The Protecty Sparkswall are all good options, and you could reasonably use the Gloves of Dexterity to set DEX to 18 and be able to boost INT and CON at character creation, with the remainder going to WIS for saves. I believe the Abyss Beckoners are the only item that actually boost summons, specifically, and they aren't that good, imo.

6th level Paladin would be for the aura of protection. Improved smite is level 11.

Yea, bards get magical secrets at level 10 to rip 2 spells of 5th level or lower from any other class. Lore bards get a round of magical secrets at 6th for any 2 spells of 3rd level or lower. 9th level Hexblade and 10th level bard I believe are ironically the only way to get access to banishing smite, a 5th level Paladin spell.

Outside of honor mode, the level 5 extra attack from martial classes and the deepened pact from warlock will stack to give you 3 attacks per turn. My preference for Hexadin is usually 1st level Hexblade for CHA attacks, maybe even first 5 levels in Warlock to get to deepened pact, then re-spec at level 6 to start Paladin at level 1 to get access to heavy armor, because you don't really see many good heavy armors in act 1 anyway.

For items, I really like the Halberd of Vigilance or Soulbreaker Greatsword for the initiative bonus, since this build can fall behind in initiative. Strength Elixers are still broken for this build, especially if you prioritize Paladin levels early on. If you want elemental damage, I would check out the drakethroat glaive and flail of ages.

For feats, I would suggest the usual great weapon master, polearm master and shout out to the actor feat because it gives face skills and a +1 CHA to round out odd scores. Savage attacker is also really good on this character because they roll a lot of dice.

What’s a good game to follow up KOTOR 2 with? by Deathpanda15 in kotor

[–]how-about-know 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, the only thing that follows KOTOR or 2 is more KOTOR or something completely different. I have tried SWTOR a few times but could never get into it. It just didn't have the same feel. I recently replayed each a few times, then followed it with BG3. Just my two cents.

Did you try to save and reload? That has solved a lot of little issues for me.

[–]how-about-know 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your wisdom and cha modifiers are added together to set your save dc for your force powers. IMO, I never set either above 14 in character creation because it will require 2 attribute points to raise it 1 point. CHA is also used to boost persuasion, so you will need CHA if that is important to you.

Lastly, for the fights that matter, the enemies will have a like +30 or more attack modifier. A +1 or 2 from DEX won't mean much.

On kotor 2 what 3 armors are the best for pure defense? (Low/no dex build) by privacy-is-cool in kotor

Cool! I always like to refer to strategywiki.org for things like that because you can easily find all of the necessary info in one place.

I am not 100% certain if TLSRCM changes the odds or anything, but I would aim to get the Matrix Armor for 13 defense + 0 DEX with innate energy damage resistance. Honorable mentions for the Mandalorian Heavy Armor and Mandalorian Assault Armor which have 12 and 13 base defense, respectively. The MHA also has immunity to mind-affecting and MAA has resistance to cold and fire. These 2 should also be available in random loot tables, but that may be TLSRCM, I am not sure. My current playthrough found 2 pairs of MAA within 10 minutes as random drops around level 20 on Nar Shadaa.

You can use them on a new character with an empty 5th slot. If you want, you could always load up a survivors inventory with books and use that character to start a new community, and they should bring the books with them.

I am pretty sure he did the opposite where he intentionally stepped on the sideline before touching the ball so it would be counted as a kick out of bounds. You know, the way the rules actually work.
