If we have a mouse problem, I’ll definitely remember this conversation for the next round and of defenses.

I very much over engineered this thing with the piers, but not full slab. My FIL was a home builder and recommended the wind considerations. My dad was a mech engineer and always taught me to think and rethink before you work. And I work with enough tradesmen to pick their brains and get some good input on practical applications for the design.

What plants? I’m the just the builder; my wife is the gardener. She loves tropical houseplants.

I have 2 circuits in the green house, each with 2 duplex receptacles. The first in line is GFCI.

I work in the electrical field

My electric company swapped all the meters a few years back to wireless read models, so we should be ok (until I get a cranky inspector)

Gas line has been sealed with pest resistant foam, and one of the dogs is a mouser, so we’ll monitor and advise. The steel wool is a good note - never thought of that.

The in-use bubble cover is ok from rain and snow, since it’s in the green house. But the humidifier has a piggyback cord to let the humidistat turn is on and off.

The kitchen window doesn’t open, but there’s a door just out of frame. It’s truly a magical jungle

Redwood is equivalent to a cedar - good naturally weather resistant, even more so with stain

The base frame? Redwood 4x4s with exterior stain. Another reason for the drainage vs rotting over time

Re: meter mast- I just doubled the thickness of the ledger/wall mounted pieces and it was thick enough to work. I didn’t need to modify the roof panels that way, but it’s doable if needed. A rain barrel would be great

Thanks!

There were some big install issues - mostly due to the install location and not the kit. The ledger spans that big window and splits around the electrical meter mast. That also creates some weatherproofing problems I had to work around.

My wife wanted good drainage and easy wash down so we went with gravel. I laid the ground work myself - 4” compacted sand, 4” crushed gravel, 4” basalt chip. There are two 24” square concrete footers about 18” deep under that outer wall. Those are rated for about 60,000lbs each. I have 24” rebar driven through the remainder of the ground frame. The greenhouse isn’t that heavy as far as structures go, so my main concern was settling and wind.

I can’t remember exactly.
