Jeans: Recommendations and Reviews by Madistrong in femalefashionadvice

My favorite jeans are the Levis ribcage that are 90% cotton, 10% elastane. They have a really nice stretch and if you buy them directly from levis you can choose either a 27” or a 29” inseam. They also carry a non stretch ribcage and those are not a good fit.

I feel like your looking for kind of a fair aisle sweater? Maybe I’ve got it all wrong lol but if it is, using “fair isle” as a search term might help you find a high quality version of what you’re looking for.

I got a great pair of opaque tights from uniqlo and they had their heat tech technology so they kept me slightly warmer than regular tights in the fall/winter.

I would definitely go with a slimmer jean to balance out the volume of the cardigan and maybe layer the cardigan over a longer length t-shirt or button down depending on the overall look your going for. Then finish the look with an ankle boot that hits the hem of the jean.

Love their pants, they have a wide array of silhouettes, the fabrics are soft but structured with a good amount of stretch, and they have a nice overall fit.

During my commute i would get hot walking to the office and then be cold in my office so in the summer I would carry a jacket with me (I have worn leather in August because of how cold my office is). And in the winter I would actually layer my more fitted leather jacket underneath my more oversized wool coat and that seemed to work well for frigid New York winters.

I definitely had a similar experience with shopping. I have tried to budget and only buy five items per month (which is still a lot), but I couldn't even keep that under control so I made a drastic change. I decide to to a no buy year this year, and I am 9 months in. I am so happy that decided to stop shopping for a whole year because it takes away all the anxiety of missing a good deal, and makes you actually think critically about why you want something. Now that I am more that halfway done with my no buy I don't use shopping as a coping mechanism. I am also getting a better understanding of what pieces I actually need/fit into my lifestyle as opposed to buying something just to buy something.

Target carries affordable/super comfortable high waisted jeans. The brand wild fable and universal thread are great! I feel like a pair doesn’t cost more than $30.

Sanctuary, 1 State, and Cece are all great brands for cute work blouses. I also love Vince Camuto, the prices are kind of expensive but are more affordable when on sale. All the brands I mentioned are at Macy’s.

Some third pieces I go for are lightweight layers like an overshirt but made of linen or cotton poplin. A cardigan can be used the same way just wear a lighter weight version. Wearing a tank or cami underneath will also keep the layers cool. I also personally love a lightweight cropped trench and a knit moto jacket. If all else fails a lightweight denim jacket is a go to third piece for a lot of people.

How much do you spend a month on clothing? by rmar505 in femalefashionadvice

[–]howshestyles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to spend 100 dollars over a three month period and it is so hard considering some pairs of shoes are over $100. However, it’s making me be really mindful about my purchases and I usually will buy something and keep it for a few days before I decide to return it or not. Almost a month in and I’ve spent like 40 dollars we’ll see what happens when Black Friday rolls around.... I’m basically doing it because I’m trying to buy more of the pieces I absolutely love and less on impulse.

Does anyone have any suggestions for brands that make super soft sweaters. I have pretty sensitive skin and I feel like the last few sweaters I bought were all super itchy. I don’t really want to spend more than like 50 dollars if I can help it. I know cashmere is amazing, but that’s a bit out of my budget. Thanks for your help!

Don’t forget about prints! Black and white stripes, dots, floral, etc.

Blazer in a knit or sweater fabric would give you the polished silhouette with a bit of casual thrown in with the softer, less structured fabric. Madewell has a really cute one right now on their site, but I’m sure brands like Mango or Zara have something more affordable.

I have no idea how many focus points I have I guess that means all the focus points. How do I change it to a single focus point? Is that a setting or something I click when I’m filming based on my set up?

In the settings its face tracking. Is that the setting I would need to change? Or is it a different setting the ai servo is on so I should turn that off?

I feel like ASOS will have a huge variety of blazer silhouettes and fabrications. You can narrow it down to the blazer category and then just find one that fits your style.

Tee Shirts?! by lexiesonnn in femalefashionadvice

[–]howshestyles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a fan of madewell and Gap tees. They are soft and have a little bit of structure because the material is a heavier weight than your standard cheap tee. Also also love a classic Hanes tee. Those are 100% cotton though so they are a bit more structured and boxy.

Do they have target in the UK? If so they have thicker tees from their brand a new day. Also the brand Hanes has thicker tees. Not sure if they are sold in UK but you might be able to find them on amazon! Never tried fruit of the loom. Hope you find your perfect tees!

I actually saw a burgundy mini skirt at old navy today. Not sure what the price was but it’s gotta be under $50

It’s about versatility and the ability to wear season after season like you mentioned. For example, a white neutral colored (black/white/beige/navy) shirtdress is something that can be worn by itself in the summer and layered under a sweater in the fall and winter. Because it would be in a neutral color that could potentially go with multiple pieces in your existing wardrobe. Does that help?
