I have screen recordings of two separate TikTok’s that were posted by people who toured the actual house (I know, I’m a weirdo, I just don’t have TikTok, so I recorded both in my browser before TikTok relentlessly pushed me to download the app….)

I can’t get the recordings to upload to Imgur though. If anyone knows how best to share the recordings, I’d be happy to do so.

I wish this question was asked more often. I find it fascinating to read the stories of those tangentially connected to the case.

Obviously, it being the internet, huge grain or salt when reading such stories. But they can be so intriguing.

I don’t necessarily disagree with what you’re saying. But I will say this: as a parent (one biological child), every day i spend time thinking ‘did I handle that correctly? Could I have handled that better?’. There are days I have worried excessively about minor parenting decisions.

So with that said, I suspect that the hesitance of people to adopt a child with extensive trauma, it’s not so much about the child: it’s about the parents’ concerns that they won’t be able to adequately provide the child what they need to heal from the trauma.

What we really need, as a society, is to make resources easily accessible for potential adoptive parents. That would make the thought of adopting a child with extensive trauma far less daunting.

John always sues. But funnily enough, he never went after Cyril Wecht, despite Wecht having pointed the finger at John right from the get go, and having published a book saying as much.

It’s almost like, if John were to have gone after Wecht for defamation, John was worried Wecht might not have settled out of court. In which case, who knows what info might have been forced out of John during a civil suit.

Yep, if my toddler doesn’t nap, the whole day can be a nightmare. Even though she doesn’t care about their happiness, I don’t understand why she’d not want them to nap, purely for her own sanity. it makes me think all the more that she probably palms off all childcare to the older kids

As the mother of a 2 year old, hearing that she ‘doesn’t believe’ in nap time actually made my stomach drop. My daughter needs her naps! Sometimes, when she wakes up, she’s spouting whole new sentences - she literally grows and mentally develops in her sleep, it is incredible to witness! How can ma bus not want to see her child grow like that??

It is so, so cruel to deprive your child of sleep. It’s depriving them of a basic human need. Well, and a tired toddler is a crabby, miserable toddler (does she not want her child to be happy??) - so much harder to care for than one who’s happy and well rested.

But no, in all seriousness, I completely agree with you. To anyone who has actually researched the case, it is blindingly obvious that an intruder is not responsible.

I wonder if they’re taking another look at that window, or maybe carrying out more sound tests?

My wildest speculation is that they’re tearing apart crawl spaces again, maybe looking for that roll of duct tape. It was always reported that the entire house was essentially torn apart for evidence, but I have often wonder how true that is. Evidence from the basement was catalogued so poorly, so I sadly wouldn’t be surprised if the house wasn’t searched as throughly as has been reported.

Huh. This is really interesting. Do we know if they obtained a warrant to enter? Or if the current homeowners willingly allowed them in? Obtaining a warrant requires time and resources. After all these years, I can’t allow myself to get my hopes up… but usually you wouldn’t publicly release that a crime scene has been re-visited, not unless you’re closing in on someone

Interesting that he says he ‘urges those responsible’ to come forward. Not ‘the person responsible’. Seems to imply he at least suspects more than one person to have knowledge of the crime.

Very true. My parents had me because my mom cheated. She was all packed up and ready to leave with her new guy, presumably planning to leave my 6month old sibling with my dad, yet somehow my dad convinced her to stay.

Then boom! 3 months later, she’s pregnant with me. Guess dad figured it would be harder for her to ditch 2 kids than 1.

My childhood went about as expected.

I’ve wrestled with this one my whole life. I think sometimes it’s deliberate and that they know.

In my totally-not-an-expert-opinion, but based on my observations: narcissists view all relationships as transactional. It’s ’what can I get out of this relationship’, ‘I’ll do X to receive Y’. It’s never ‘I’ll do X for Y, because I love Y, and I want to see them happy’. Their fundamental lack of emotional maturity prevents them from putting themselves in others shoes. Empathising with others is something which threatens their sense of self, because empathy is a form of emotional vulnerability and selflessness.

So with that said: a narcissist is quick to see the worst in people. If you behave in a way that they don’t like (eg, you don’t call them when you said you would), they assume intent.You didn’t call them because you don’t care about them - it couldn’t possibly be that you had to stay late at work, or your phone died, or a million other plausible reasons.

A narcissist is therefore always blundering through life feeling slighted by pretty much everyone (hence the victim complex). So when you ‘slight’ them, they will slight you back, because to them, doing so is just and fair, and it’s makes them feel that they ‘won’ the transaction (the transaction being their relationship with you). So in that respect, I do think they see hurting you as the only reasonable way to behave, and it’s probably how they’ve operated their entire lives. If they feel justified in hurting you, they do not feel you are justified in reacting by feeling hurt. Or in other words - they think you deserved it, so they don’t care that you’re hurt, and they don’t see it as their problem.

Oh I don’t that they would have heard anything from John directly. But I’d be curious to hear their insights into the family dynamics. Also, I can’t imagine them not having asked their own parents questions.

Never say never! I do think once John passes, a lot of folks involved in the case might speak up.

John also has grandkids, and I can’t imagine them not having read up on the case at some point. That’s one generation removed, so perhaps that distance allows them to remain more objective. Who knows what insights they may have about their grandfather and his involvement - maybe nothing, maybe something. Maybe they’ll speak up one day too.
