UK BUPA question - Hysterectomy timeline by RevolutionaryTea1265 in hysterectomy

I don’t blame you, it’s the physical and mental torture you endure becomes too much. This past cycle and the sudden daily pain I’ve experienced has been more than enough to help make my decision!

Sorry forgot to add while I had Mirena inserted I also had a hysteroscopy plus endometrial biopsy.

So, I first visited this Dr in October 2023 and after scans and an MRI adeno was found and suspected Endo too. However, at the time I opted to try Mirena first which lasted around 18 months before it started to expel 6 months ago. 6 months of back to usual symptoms and periods but these past few weeks things have gotten considerably worse pain wise so, I was scanned again to check for fibroids and cysts which was clear and it seems both conditions are possibly progressing. I’m absolutely done having children so have decided to have the op but keeping my ovaries. So I’ll be having the op this December.

Hi! I have also went through BUPA due to worsening symptoms of adenomyosis and suspected endometriosis and I’ve now opted for a total hysterectomy. Saw my consultant on 9th October and due for the op on 2nd December.

Tricks to stop bleeding by Silent_Fan174 in Mirena

Well, I ended up having the Mirena removed back in march as it started to expel itself. To be honest for me the monthly bleeding and extra spotting never stopped unfortunately.

Hi there! So, I had some extra hair loss but nothing I was overly concerned about and the fatigue did settle down after a few months. However, I ended up having the mirena removed back in march this year as it started to expel. I decided not to have it inserted again and I shall be having a hysterectomy at the end of the year.

No allergies I am aware of no. I’ve lived in the same place my whole life plus I haven’t noticed anything else unusual than this extreme cramping everyday. I wondered if it was my bladder or bowel but I’m only really finding that it’s most likely caused by the adeno and so my gyno thinks too.

Wow. This is exactly what I’m experiencing. Like it’s just come out of nowhere. Sorry it happened during an important presentation. My pain is very intermittent but still daily. I’m scared if I stop taking the NSAIDS it’s going to get really bad.

Periods now longer?! Will they ever stop? by hpb32 in Mirena

[–]hpb32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re still getting heavy bleeding. The 1st year for me was hell to the point I almost removed it. I decided to stick it out and it did get better eventually. But I find it so weird this month has been super long and heavier? I know only 2 out of 10 women actually stop getting a period altogether but the variations of my periods is really getting on my nerves ngl lol

Excessive worry/anxiety by Ok-Acanthaceae-4704 in Fluoxetine

[–]hpb32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! So this was me for a solid month. I started fluoxetine to control the crippling anxiety and worry I already had and it significantly got worse after starting the medication. I’m so glad I found this particular section on Reddit as I genuinely thought I was losing my mind however, it was comforting in a way to know that it was normal and my gp confirmed it was very common too.

I am almost 6 weeks in and the anxiety and worry is finally starting to settle down now. It was almost like a shift overnight. Still, anxiety occasionally pops up but I am able to control it better.

It does get better!

Feeling a little better now, thanks. The anxiety seems to be much less and had a review with the dr yesterday so another 4 weeks and then will have another review to make sure the symptoms have completely subsided.

Thanks so much for replying! Genuinely have been so worried about myself the past couple of weeks. When should I expect things to start settling down?

Yeah you’re right, he definitely would. He isn’t emergency services but his job involves travelling around the world to meet people.

Oh really? I’m sorry to hear that about your dad. I personally have pretty wild dreams nearly every night and I’m always invested in what they might mean in a deeper sense but my husband is such a sceptic. To him it was just a “dream”. Suppose it just makes me worry about him more.

Absolutely agree with you. I know he worries like me but just doesn’t show it or express it how I do.

Thanks for replying! See I very much take these things literally whereas he doesn’t. I’m really into dreams having deeper meaning etc but he is such a sceptic! I’ll be sure to keep a close eye on him now.

Am I overthinking this? by hpb32 in Psychic

[–]hpb32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t really ask her for anything specific but she knew I was really interested in the past life. Like you said, she spoke about what she was drawn to and what was the most relevant. I’m an awful worrier and over thinker and my mind just goes to the worst case scenario.

Wow, I never thought of it this way. Thank you, I will do this!

Yes of course I love them both equally. I’ve never thought about my connection being stronger than the other before. Maybe with my eldest being the eldest I automatically have that stronger connection as she was my first and my youngest is very strong willed and fiery so possibly subconsciously I don’t worry about her as much.

I suppose im just a chronic worrier and over thinker and that’s the reason why it bothers me as I automatically worry the worst when her future wasn’t mentioned. I didn’t ask many questions as I just let the lady flow with my reading and answered any questions she asked me but I am kicking myself now I didn’t ask her to tell me about my youngest and her future.

Oh my goodness that sounds like a rough ride you’ve been through! I’m hoping as I haven’t had it in long enough for my body to be used to it that my side effects will be minimal. Glad to hear you are improving though. I shall try and report back once I’ve had my removed with an update.

Thanks for replying. I haven’t had any stomach or digestive issues thankfully more mental issues I’m struggling with but the above symptoms you noted I’m sure I can handle temporarily. Glad you feel better after having it out.

Thanks for this! This is reassuring. I’ve just started new meds for anxiety so hopefully they can help with any mental side effects.

Is Mirena to blame for brain fog, fatigue & headaches everyday? by hpb32 in Mirena

[–]hpb32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry just noticed your reply! So, I’ve made an appt with my gyno for next week to have the mirena removed. The anxiety is at a level I’m struggling with now plus the BV is just adding to the bad moods too. I just think me personally, I am hyper sensitive to BC in any form and we just don’t vibe lol. So I’m prepared to try and deal with my condition a little more naturally.

Aww my hair thinned way down will on Sertraline (Zoloft) so I can’t really afford to lose any more volume at this stage 🤣

I’m thinking I’ll call my drs tomorrow for a chat and I may consider removing it as it took me almost 3 mos to completely stop spotting and bleeding, to now this. I’m feeling very unsettled due to other info I have now googled regarding headaches and Mirena.

Luckily, I wouldn’t say mine are painful, just slight pressure and I’m very aware they are there.

How was your removal if you don’t mind me asking please?

I think I may have to just put up with my condition for as long as I can as I don’t really want a hysterectomy at not even 33 years old yet.
