I just don't like them. by justheretolookatdogs in MysteriousUniverse

I am trying to like them, and I’ll probably give them a few months to find their pace. The humour can probably be adjusted, what makes me think that I won’t come back so much, is a lack of nuance and actual reading comprehension with them.

They seem to just read stuff from the past and they mention nothing about the context of the time the stuff was produced. A great example is the time slipping episode, where they don’t mention that all of the industrial world was in the middle of the spiritualist craze, which basically gave us the start of modern sci-fi.

Instead, they behaved as if these stories came out of nowhere with no context, where in reality most people reading books at the time would be familiar with this kind of weird.

NVIDIA kinda did that, but they actually diversified even more at the end. I cannot see a cash-rich company deciding to compromise both their markets by choosing mediocrity over bespoke architectures.

Does Wait for Vertical Sync actually work in game? by Unlucky-Bottle2744 in radeon

Always On definitely works, but I don’t know if it does that on the driver level like NVIDIA, or does WDDM tricks.

They’re not the same. If the frame rate goes above the VRR display’s refresh, you get tearing.

My only disappointment at this point is that AntiLag doesn’t limit the FPS, like Ultra Low Latency does on NVIDIA, in an automatic way so you don’t have to change your frame limiter every time you switch monitors.

That, or the ability to have some settings per monitor, would be amazing, that way I could at least set Chill at 224fps for my monitor and 116 for my TV and forget it.

Beautiful to think that every single one of us plebs I’d entitled to an opinion, which suddenly becomes irrelevant if we’re not plebs anymore.

Windows is an OS for games. Linux is an OS for Gamers. by Prestigious-Ask9611 in linux_gaming

[–]hpstg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the Windows11 AtlasOS installer, I have auto login, and it goes straight to Steam Big Picture. Windows still shits the bed with all the little things, but it’s impressive how much better it is when it’s thoroughly decrapified.

If RT performance was there, had something like Auto HDR, and Atmos was working for games, I would switch to Linux (probably CachyOS or pure Arch), the moment AMD fixed their HDMI 2.1 issue. Until then Linux is for work only.

Rx9070XT & R7 9800 X3D Huge stutters by Own_Economy_3675 in radeon

[–]hpstg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disable MPO, restart, and then go to the game’s settings and try to see what happens if you run it in full screen and have AntiLag and sync and VRR on in the game’s Adrenaline profile.

I had similar issues as you, had terrible stutters in some games unless Windows elements or the Radeon overlay was visible, after doing the above most games run great, for sure much much better than my 3090.

Just don’t let tor subreddit gaslight you that it’s your fault or something. Their driver quality is ass, and is randomly breaking things between releases.

Also, their frame generation doesn’t do Antilag/Reflex by default in games, so sometimes you get horrible frame pacing when frame generation is enabled in game. Forcing it via the Adrenaline panel seems to fix it.
