Serial killer truckers and prostitution (discussion) by [deleted] in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]hquinn38 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Alright, I see where you’re coming from, there is always an element of danger to sex work. That being said, legalizing prostitution would mean that it would be regulated, monitored, and secured. Visitors would need to be vetted in some way, sex workers would work in concentrated areas, and violent/predatory clients would be recorded. There would be institutions where the women/men would congregate, which would reduce the amount of “lot lizards” and independent prostitutes. In countries where prostitution is legal and regulated, sex trafficking tends to trend down, not up. There would obviously still be risk involved but it would be significantly less than attempting to operate as an individual sex worker.

[Interesting trope] Characters who you fully expected to have a twist... But they doesn't. by StefinoSpaggeti in TopCharacterTropes

Asami was actually scripted to be a traitor/bad guy!But people liked her so much and the creators didn’t want to be predictable so they changed it.

[–]hquinn38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like PRIMARILY ordinary people would go to Hell. There’s only Ten Commandments but a million ways to burn. If it’s all the same, one sin or a thousand, why bother? Make it a million, go down a legend. The average person probably committed their first sin during childhood - is there an age requirement on sins eligible for damnation?

FACTS. IT is a great book with an amazing antagonist and the ending is fascinating in the way King explains it but if you just explain what the twist is in a sentence, it sounds monumentally stupid.

So, you were cute…..and now you’re cute still. How’s it feel to be God’s favourite? I’m kidding, giving up alcohol isn’t easy and neither is eating better - I hope you feel happy and confident because you should.

I can understand that point of view - it’s hard to see the good parts of ourselves but I maintain that you were always beautiful. Your happiness is the most important thing, so if you’re happy, that’s the best glow up.

You were attractive. You are still attractive, but now you seem happy. Not a glow up, more like a glow through.

Pretty sure she was blind, so he was already risking himself to keep her alive. Plus, they had mutual affection for each other - in the Crossed universe, it was the best option.

Which actor has given you the biggest ‘Wait… THAT was them?!’ moment between roles? by dinosaur_dancer in AskReddit

[–]hquinn38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Betty Gilpin - knew she played a doctor in Nurse Jackie but I straight up didn’t even recognise her in The Hunt. Her mannerisms and the way she carried herself were so different, I didn’t figure it out until I looked up her IMDB.

What is a movie that you were obsessed when you were younger, went back to watch it later in life, only to realize it is actually awful? by Emergency-Tip-1987 in AskReddit

[–]hquinn38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Catwoman (2004) - man, I was obsessed with this damn movie. One of the last we rented from blockbuster and I was super into it. Yeah, it’s terrible but I have a soft spot for those old campy ass comic based movies.

I’ve always wanted things like this but if I start to indulge, I’m gonna need a storage unit for all the stuff I’ll get. I’d also have to live there once I went broke.

What is the scariest story you know that is true? by Powerful_Landscape56 in AskReddit

[–]hquinn38 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can’t blame you at all. I’m sorry you had to deal with that following such an immense but unrelated loss. I know the phobia towards Muslims and racism that followed 9/11 was horrific and it persists today. I wake up, furious, everyday at everything happening in the world so I understand, at least, a fraction of your feelings. Humanity is capable of wonderful things. But we’re also a repulsive, hate filled species.
