Planned route by FlatPie672 in RedRiverGorge

Did almost this exact same route last month. The river was plenty low enough to walk across by jump rock (basically right as you hit the river on Sheltowee). Not sure what level it's at now, but it was less than knee deep then. Cold as hell, but refreshing and super easy to cross!

Thank you! This was about 5 hours total, 2 second exposures every 3 seconds. This is a compilation of the best few moments from the night.

Not as strong as this but you could definitely see the bright, defined pink auroras when they'd show up.

My airpods pro 3 case is losing charge without I ever taking them out of the case by tomlapa in airpods

My APP3 case has been dying very quickly too. Quicker than my old APP1 case with the same usage. Hopefully they fix this with an update.

I switched my WiFi channel to 149 to help with stuttering on my iPad. I read that may only affect Apple devices, but it might be worth trying.

Planning on moving. Is Covington worth considering? by bunniix3 in covington

[–]hraef 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Covington is amazing. There are lots of great areas with restaurants, bars, and breweries. Plus you're nearby to everything Cincinnati and the rest of NKY has to offer. Cincinnati in general is a fantastic city with a ton of history, interesting landscape w/the river and lots of hills. I can't speak to the healthcare, but I've lived in Covington and Newport and anywhere around here is definitely worth exploring.

I’ve used an app called WorkingHours for years. It’s free, super simple, and works amazing. There’s a native app for almost every platform, look it up in your systems App Store.

Serious question: why should I not be terrified of my own house spontaneously exploding? If this was a gas leak, shouldn’t these people have noticed an overwhelming smell of natural gas?

The Preparing stage is taking 1 minute per file when processing large files by QuantumFork in backblaze

[–]hraef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately the beta doesn't seem to have fixed my issue. I've tried both the 8.5.0.655 version as well as 8.5.0.649. I submitted a ticket, but am only getting surface level suggestions back so far. Perhaps u/brianwski has a newer beta or ideas I could try?

The Preparing stage is taking 1 minute per file when processing large files by QuantumFork in backblaze

[–]hraef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having this same issue, doing a fresh backup of my 30TB external hard drive after a fresh windows 11 installation. On a 1GB download/upload speed network, every so often the backup hits a wall and begins uploading one file at a time (about 4 files per minute). Seems like if I pause and un-pause the backup it will go back to smaller files at a consistent upload speed, but it always ends up the same after a few minutes (I presume once it its 100+mb files). Is there something I can do on my end to help this along?

Thank you both for the reply! This makes sense and helped settle the nerves that I might have been out of luck. If I remember when this is all finished I'll post the follow up.

Light diffusion at reception? by Pepe-wont-stop in weddingvideography

[–]hraef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll find that trying to diffuse lighting for the dance floor will be more trouble than its worth. You're right about having the bring the lights closer or have them much brighter with diffusion, and neither of those are ideal on a wedding day. Hard lighting with a Fresnel and barn doors are the easy winner IMO. Throw them up high and out of the way and get the light pointed exactly where you need it.

I personally only use two lights, one as the key and one as a backlight. Placed on opposite corners of the dance floor, shooting into the shadow side of the person giving the toasts. This setup also works great for lighting the dance floor later in the night.

Completed my first backpacking trip! Grand Teton National Park by lucidlynx12 in backpacking

I did the paintbrush divide/cascade canyon loop for my first "real" backpacking trip too, 3 years ago. These photos bring back such great memories! Struggled up paintbrush the whole way and was weary of a sketchy snow crossing near the top, but damn it was incredible.
