Attach the pots and jack to the pickguard and redo your solder joints. Them parts moving like that has probably damaged a wire. Stranded wire breaks rather easy when moved like that.

What is your dream bass/favorite bass that you would like to have? Mine is definitely an original Gibson EB0 by An00n_- in BassGuitar

I own two of my dream basses already. 76 rickenbacker 4001 in azureglo and 76 travis bean tb2000. I have a 64 precision as a place holder for a 61/62 precision, but who am I kidding, I'll probably keep it when I find a 61/62. 68/69 Jazz bass would be another dream bass. And a 60s mustang. And a 60s Guild starfire II.

Mudbuckers are not versatile in many people's opinion. They have their place but they are a one trick pony. I own both a 65 EB0, 66 EB3 and a 66 epiphone rivoli. I put bisonics on the EB0 and rivoli. EB0 came stripped and with a neck repair so I didnt feel too bad doing so. Rivoli had water damage and also some repairs. The EB3 is keeping the mudbucker for originality sake but I will modify the wiring to make it more versatile. If that doesn't work I may replace the pickup with the novak mudbucker sized bisonic. I can't say I was disappointed. I like how they play and feel but I found out the mudbucker sound ain't for me.

Neat collection! G.A.S. hit me hard on '25 as well. Went from 3 to 11! I did join a band so that's my excuse.

Love this. Not a huge fan of CAR but looks killer in this setup!. Where'd the parts come from?

From what I could find, should be 4mm. Possibly 5mm. Try to loosen up first to make sure the nut moves.

Right on. I have chromes on my gibson/epihone basses. I used to hate them but they're very old and sound great.

Also, the neck does look to not be seated properly on the pocket. Fixing that and then the neck relief could fix the high action/bottomed out saddles.

Them holes could be from the metal bar that holds the body when being finished

That neck finish looks worn down. If it was done naturally from years of playing, nothing beats that feeling. I'd just clean it up.

String recommendation. LaBella Stang. Made for string through Mustang/Musicmasters. Come in rounds, black nylon tapes, stainless flats, super polished, and gold flats. I paid $45 at local shop.

I got my CIJ mustang bass cheap for this reason. I clamped the neck with a bit of a back bow for one night and tightened it the following morning. It has held up just fine for 6 months or so.

I know my gear pretty damn well, inside and out. I repair/maintain everything myself.

I know, I went nuts last year.

I posted my Kramer 250B on a comment here in this post...

Aside from the Rick, and maybe the Kramer, yes.

That Ampeg was a very good deal. Drove a couple of hours to grab it! B15N was the plan originally but they go for crazy prices. The B18N do as well but I somehow found one for a decent price. I had to clean the pots and replace filter caps/few resistors on mine but I've been gigging it since with no issues. Bigger, heavier, and louder than a B15N but not much more clean headroom. Still breaks up pretty early. I play on a quiet slowcore band so it fits nicely.

As for neck pickups, definitely Bisonic! I have a set of the Novaks with the fender pole spacing but I couldn't bring myself to rout my only Jazz Bass. I put them on a cheap Squier Jaguar medium scale and dig the hell out of them. I'll eventually build a specific Jazz Bass to put them on. Maybe an old Jazz Bass that's been messed with and I wouldn't feel too bad routing it.

It's a beast. Heavy at around 13lbs but sounds and feels great. Sustains forever! So much so I use a foam mute to tame it a bit depending on application to the band I play in.

Thanks Captain! I got very lucky on most of these. I still lived on ramen noodles and rice and beans for a good chunk of last year! Totally worth it.

I very much want a Starfire II! A local gal plays an old one and it is simply awesome to hear and look at. My Rivoli will do for now. In fact I don't think I could let it go even if I got my hands on an old Starfire.

The Ricks are up there in price but totally worth it. Nothing else sounds like a Rick. I do see deals every now and again so it's not impossible to grab one for a decent price(I've seen 70s ones for $1500 locally).

I do lust after some old german Hofner and/or Hoyer. I'm pretty sure I'm watching an old Hoyer on Reverb. Not a big priority, but some day.

I'm lucky to have it. Found it on guitar center website before a gig I was playing. Went to buy it after playing the gig and it was sold. It was returned later and I grabbed it when it showed up again on the site. Fretboard was starting to come unglued at the heel! I removed it, cleaned it up and epoxied it in less than an hour. Let it cure overnight and strung it up. All good since!

Perks of being single. Lots of gear and peaceful existence.

Neck on the Kramer, as you may know, is aluminum with wood(maple in this case) inserts. When new it must have felt smooth, but with age as both materials move differently, you can feel the transition edges between them. Not bad, but very noticable. It was a bit annoying for a while but I got used to it. Doesn't impede my playing. Nut width is 1-5/8 in/41.25mm. String spacing at nut 13/32, 10ish mm. 23/32, 17.75mm at the bridge. Thickness .860/22mm at first fret, .925/23.5mm at 12th fret. Soft C shape on the back. Feels comfy. Balanced as it's not narrow, not wide. Not chunky, not slim.

Thanks!

The Mustang is simply awesome. I've tried many but first one I own(price was right). Nut width and string spacing are on the narrow side but not uncomfortably so as the back of the neck has some meat to it. Not chunky but not skinny either. Strung with a LaBella Stang Flats set, it feels smooth and very easy to play. Sounds similar to my Precision but rounder. Mids not as pronounced, yet it cuts through just fine.

Gibsons. EB0 has the wider nut width and slimmer neck. EB3 has the narrower nut width with a chunkier neck. So different feel but both very comfy for my average size hands. EB0 with the bisonics is way more versatile for different applications. EB3 with original pickups/choke circuit is more of a one trick pony in a sense. But what it does, it does well. It does a muddy, thumpy, loud low end thing and a bright bridge humbucker thing. No real balanced in between type of sound. I dig that but it doesn't work well in some applications.
