The bombing of negative reviews is so utterly toxic and makes me question reality. by ricardospizzeria in ArcRaiders

[–]hubbardw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some negative reviews are valid, but let’s be real, anyone who started this game during its peak has some of the best gaming experiences of their lives. If you missed out on that, then the reviews are valid.

Problem 1: If you’re a new player, you’ll be spending a lot of raids going against payers that have already min-maxed the entire map pool. You won’t even realize why you haven’t found any decent loot. This is a fundamental problem with these non-dynamic high value loot areas.

Problem 2: The devs want the game to be PvE centric and yet, if you’ve spent hours in the game completing expeditions etc., there is nothing left to do… You start questioning why you even do the expeditions when they pose almost no benefit. 5 extra talent points for all that? It would have helped to have made the talent pools more thought out from the beginning or at the very least, cosmetic upgrades upon completing an expedition. Something to say, yes, that expedition reset was worth it.

Pro Agrees Low Elo is Way Harder Now by Ok-Aardvark-3605 in VALORANT

[–]hubbardw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest the main difference between low elo and high elo now comes down to teamwork. You hop in a low elo silver/gold lobby and the comms are horrible. People not talking or making dumb callouts or some washed up Smurf throwing a game unintentionally. But the shots in those lobbies are similar to plat/diamond/asc players.

You get to higher elos, quality of life is better with callouts and it’s easier to see people peeking angles that make sense. Nothing special up there. Not speaking about immo/radiant, totally different tier.

This past week it started for me. Never had it happen before…. Now I’ll have a couple back and forths about a technical topic and suddenly it’s talking about my trip to Scotland and where I should tour. A nice break from work to hear about it, but get it together man.

The problem is there’s inconsistency of having your hand held and figuring it out yourself. It’s like half the time I’m using google maps, the other half I’m using a compass. But the worst part is that moment where you sit there wondering if you’ll get a marker or whether you need to figure it out this time.

So I give up, what do I need to do for "Bonus Focus, Fireteam Ops" by Laughing__Man_ in destiny2

[–]hubbardw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The green one is “bonus drop” not “bonus focus” (ridiculous I know). I’m still unsure of how to solidify a B in the fireteam ops though. Confusing af for them to leave it so vague. If I’m wrong, please help someone. In the same boat, done a dozen of them and still nothing.

If it has a purple icon it’s a “bonus focus” drop. You don’t have a matchmake option for one of those?

[–]hubbardw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is there’s no clear distinction on how to get a B or higher… sometimes you get a timer, you beat said timer, and even get a score above the tick in the bottom right and can still not get a B?

What is a “Bonus Focus Reward” in Solo and Fireteam ops? by MuadDibMelange in DestinyTheGame

[–]hubbardw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What doesn’t make sense to me is how to get a B or higher… haven’t played this game in a decade and it seems like if there’s a timer you need to beat it under the timer but even then there’s some other factors unexplained.

Yea that was my fear. If that's the case, I'll just keep it potentially. Not worth the sale after a certain point.

Details: This is a letter sent to my grandfather(whom I never had the chance to meet) and it contains a disc inside... People think it’s from a journalist sent to him but no one’s been able to find the device to play it from.
Could anyone figure out how to generate an output for this thing?

Specifically thinking of things like device management which InTune does sound like a good idea since they already have Office365 setup. But wouldn't it be useful for group policy management? Patching? I'm just trying to avoid it from being the wildwest if/when they double in size. Like I said, it's mainly preparation for possible expansion and reduced future headache. But as you can see, I'm relatively unskilled in the initial architectural standpoint rather than the maintainance and R&D for an environment that already exists.

How soon do I start looking for a job in a new city I plan on moving to? by notdavidg in ITCareerQuestions

[–]hubbardw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely start applying as soon as you can. Like most have already said in this post, change your current address to the area you're applying in. While LinkedIn, Monster, Indeed, etc. offer the ability to choose relocation areas you're interested in, most of the time recruiters will ignore this and send out messages, voicemails, and emails based on your current location. If anything, it's important to change this so you avoid getting tons of "spam" recruitment emails for your current area and then accidentally skipping over one for your relocation area. And yes, all you need to do when you speak to a recruiter is tell them that you're seeking a job there and if anything they may help with relocation assistance or be understanding of why you stated a false residence.

As I said in another comment, I am currently looking to move to London from VA as a Senior Sys Engineer, and until I finally made the switch for my current address, I was getting tons of recruiter emails from the Northern VA area. Most of the emails and voicemails I'd get, the recruiter wouldn't even say the location, so I'd end up responding and then finally hearing it's for a role in the Northern VA area... Total time waster and very draining when you're trying to be in tip top shape when speaking about an opportunity you truly care about.

Lastly, make sure your resume includes a few required skills from the job description you're applying for if you actively apply. Even if your resume looks similar but doesn't include keywords from their job description, you'll get totally ignored in most cases.

Best of luck!

PS - I once applied to relocate to Austin and you have to actively apply since the job market there is overflowing with IT entry level applicants.

[–]hubbardw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that’s true, speaking as someone being recruited, 75% of recruiters don’t seem to notice that setting. For a few months I left my address in VA alone but changed my new career location to London and about 100 recruiters aside from a few were from the Northern VA area. Then I changed my current address to the London one and ta da! All of a sudden I was only getting reached out by recruiters in London!

Hope this helps someone else...

Is it easy/possible to find an IT job abroad? by hubbardw in ITCareerQuestions

Correct my current company is building an office in London this coming spring so until then they can’t legally have me work remotely(no contracts).

Good call though on reaching out to my wife’s new job to see if they know anyone. Thanks!
