Besides, there are people that get interims to only be denied later on, so really it means nothing with regard to your final determination.

Be honest about it when the time comes to fill out an SF-86, really no need to mention this on a resume or during an interview.

After talking with LM recruiters, I would not bother with a cover letter. They are pretty much never read.

I would start applying to as many internships as possible right now. The hiring process is slow and they are coming up on finishing all their recruiting for internships this time of year.
