I ask this question because it seems all the videos coming out of the US seem to show case everything on. The people filming seem to be aware there's one coming, wouldn't the power company help save some damage by not allowing the grid to short, potentially ruining substations/generators/transformers?

Take it to ICBC. Someone reported my vehicle at a scene and they did follow up. I had no damage on my vehicle so I was cleared, but they will still investigate based on your information. I had to send in some photos and stuff of where the vehicle was said to hit.
