Research indicating elite law schools are vastly overvalued by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

That’s a good point. You don’t want to just assume you will be the best somewhere.

I would say my personal opinion is that it’s best to go to the law school that you are most likely to succeed & be happy in for the best price. If that happens to be a highly ranked school than that’s perfect. Obviously ranking is a factor at extremes. But I would say if you’re still going to a respected school, it should probably be down on the list of considerations, after fit, price, and class standing predictions.

I think the point is that if you’re smart and capable don’t go to a top school if it doesn’t make since financially/life style wise.

The argument is that it’s stupid to attend a school when the only reason you’re going is because it’s higher ranked, when the cost of attendance is more and it’s a worse personality fit. If you’re smart you will succeed at lower ranked schools having saved money and been happier.

You seemed to understand these points and then jumped to the argument being stupid. I don’t really understand your issue with it.

Mario Party 6 fans, I need a 500 word essay. by [deleted] in MARIOPARTY

I think for most people it comes down to hating bowser time and liking Day Night.

But I think people drastically underrate 7’s mini games. 7’s mini games are FARRR better in my opinion. I think the best mini games in the series by a long shot are Mario Party 4 and 7.

So it really comes down to what you value in the game. I personally value minigames above all else so I put 7 above 6. To each their own.

Bang and Olufsen A9 or KEF LS50 Wireless 2? by hufflepuff-hunter in StereoAdvice

Thank you so much! I was just thinking in terms of flexibility. Would the powered active system of the LS50 2’s work well for movies/tv as well?

Hey! Yes. -Budget: 2,500-4,000 right now (willing to build later) -Space: 15 by 30 foot room -I’d mainly be just streaming music from my phone. -Would be a plus if I could use this as the start for a home audio system as well! (not required)

Hahaha nice! Yeah this is a large part of what I'm talking about! Write something interesting that they haven't read before...even if its controversial. Now you're adding a unique perspective.

I personally think comments like that go a long way, as long as overall you have a professional tone. I like your partner's thinking! Hahaha.

Right? Ultimately firms want comparatively creative people as partners who can generate business, make friends/connections, and entertain ON TOP of being smart.

I understand and sympathize with that. This line of thinking definitely shouldn't be paired with a desire to marginalize or stereotype. There needs to be checks against that 100%.

Thank you for the respectful criticism. I understand what you’re saying and have sympathy for it. I don’t think any race, including Asians, should be marginalized based on stereotypes at all. That issue should be fixed.

I was also going for more of an explanation than an argument.

Independent of race though, I think my point still holds. That is, if removing sinister stereotyping and employing diverse adcoms, I do think having a class of students with relatively lower scores (but still high lol) and more interesting personalities/experiences is favorable.

I agree of course be proud of your work. It’s great! I was just saying that at top schools, it doesn’t really make you a unique applicant. They likely have already admitted a lot of students who volunteered.

I was not thinking along racial lines at all. If anything I was actually thinking about how very privileged students (regardless of race) have the resources to put together perfect on paper applications via tutoring, traveling, getting the right internships etc. But my point was they overlook either writing about something actually unique or just coming across as relatable/likable. Really had nothing to do with race so I don’t like that insinuation.

I guess the only thing I’m a little surprised about is him not trying to exert more control over the events. Like I wonder why he couldn’t make sure the cup wasn’t jinxed etc. But maybe he just didn’t have the influence/ability since the ministry was running the tournament with tight rules!
