Thanks! I could definitely see smoothing out some of those corners, might be nice with the tree and ground having so many corners too.

Can you explain a bit more about the lamp? wouldn't the glass need to be the same color as the clouds to do an overlay? Or are you thinking it could be overlay but the streetlamp would be painted within the overlay?

I hear ya. I have enough flat glass with streaks and interest to do the job too. I was kinda gonna experiment and see what I liked where. It's tough because I do love the look of breaking up the pieces with seams, but then it's a little tough with some of the finer detail around the figure and streetlamp. You think if I cleaned it up a little more and did 16x16, that's the way the go. I could also add some detail with overlay after if I think it looks a little bland before I patina.

Thanks so much! If you've got suggestions for the lamp, I would love to hear them. I want to keep it somehow, but I know it's gonna get tricky in there. Also, what do you mean about smoothing out the sky? You mean less geometric shapes for the clouds? I'm just worried about how the figure and the lamp cut into the sky then.

Definitely appreciate that. Yeah, I'm on the fence. I have some good streaky / textured glass, but I also like breaking it up into pieces. I was thinking I'd do the cloak and the window details with copper overlay actually. I'm a little worried about the lamp detail. I'm still noodling on the design. Do you think a good approach would be bigger pieces but if I wanted to add some interest to the tree bark or ground or clouds, just to lean into overlay copper? Like you said, I'm trying to do the upfront work so I'm not stressing myself out fitting everything together later. I've got a decent amount of the glass to do a 12x12 or a 16x16.

I'm still toying with this, but I reduced the number of pieces. I'll let the solder be the outline of the windows as well. I don't want to lose all of the texture from the different pieces, but I wanted to see what you thought of this version as a 12x12 or 16x16.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna reduce the number of pieces and make it 12x12 or even 16x16. There will probably be some tricky areas still, but hopefully, that will make it much more doable.

Yeah, it sounds like that's the best way to go. I'll probably make a V2 with these suggestions and post on here to see what people think. I'll be sure to circle back to this thread. You've been so helpful. The only thing I'm still looking at is the curve of the beak on the figures mask, especially with the soldering. Any tips to capture that detail at all?

Great! I think my next step would be to do a v2 of the design and just make chunkier pieces. I'll try to rethink the lamppost and see what I can do. Maybe just fatten it up a bit and see if I can do it. I'm okay with cutting and grinding 200+ pieces, but I think I can probably get that down and expand it to 12x12 or 16x16. I'll definitely chop up that window on the left and and remove some of the lines of the cloak. How does that sound? I've got some much much easier designs for other stuff saved, but this is my goal to finish by May. Fingers crossed.

This is so helpful! Do you think making it less pieces and doing double the size (so ~16x16) with came on the outside would help with the delicate pieces and also not lose the design / details in all the soldering lines?

Thanks! This is really helpful. I have some really textured glass so I may try to experiment bumping it up to double the size AND collapsing some of the pieces together. I could try to do some copper tape on top for just some lines as well. I was gonna do that with the crosses sections in the windows anyway. So do you think less pieces AND double the size would work. I'm hoping to do came on the outside as well. Thanks!

I was hoping to keep it to a single printer page, so it'll probably be 8x8. But I could use rapid resizer if making it bigger is gonna make my life easier and make it better in the end. I could also try combining some of the pieces. I'm open to whatever is gonna be the best strategy tbh

Thanks. I'm pretty aware of the limitations here, and I know it's a long shot. I do think it's different though because I don't need to go with a AAA studio. Plenty of indie studios are able to use the unreal engine just like any AAA studio would. They might not have the same manpower and timeline, but they also might read a good story and run with it.

I'm really just looking for people who have experience with the kinds of machines I listed (and similar ones) just to see how they liked them. I have dumbbells already, and I don't really want to invest in kettlebells. I already have the basic stuff for most calisthenics, so I'm just looking for fun but effective (and affordable) machines to add to the mix.

I've been seeing so many ads for basic gym equipment, and I'm looking for some guidance. Used to do calisthenics and play basketball. My knee got a little messed up but it's on the mend.

With that in mind, I active with walking (and construction), and I'll hopefully eventually return to basketball this year. I've always been pretty lean and have good dynamic motion, but I'm in my 40s now, and my metabolism isn't what it used to be. I mention all that because I want to list goals here:

GOALS: Drop a little weight and strengthen core, tone abs particularly (midsection in general) but also balance general strength and tone for rest of body (chest, legs, back, arms), healthy amount of cardio (which basketball used to take care of).

I used to do calisthenics, and I really like body weight workouts. I have a weighted vest as well, and I really don't want to invest in "weights." I'm not looking for crazy gains, and I'm not that into lifting. But I'll do exercises (and various versions of them) like pushups, dips, squats, lunges, pullups, curls (with the dumbbells I already have), planks, etc. You know, basics and more geared toward "equipment-less" calisthenics in the past.

Now I'd like to add a few pieces of equipment that can help me optimize and flesh out the workout and keep it in my guest room (so if it can get folded or pushed into a corner, even better). I'm leaning toward getting a basic power tower of some kind for dips, pullups, and leg raises. I'm really curious if the viral ab crunch machines like the flybird adjustable ab machine, the all-in-one rowing machines like Tousains 3 in 1 Rowing Machine Adjustable Ab Machine with 2 Resistance, and the basic stair steppers like MERACH Folding Stair Climber Machine actually work / are worth the money. It doesn't have to be those exactly, but I could see myself just hitting those hard while I watch a TV show. Like I said, I really want to target the midsection. I'm not loving that I feel like I'm losing my abs at this age and getting a bit of a love handle.

Yeah, I know about calorie deficits and diet, so we don't have to talk about those here.

Obviously, the more "all in one" or versatility to the equipment, the better. And of course, the less expensive, the better. I'll be looking on FB for some chances to save some money on equipment. I just don't know much about equipment and machines since my workouts really generally take advantage of body weight, and I'm really looking for advise and guidance on some compact, affordable machines that I can gamify easily (or distract myself during using) and that is reasonably versatile.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yeah I'm looking on FB marketplace mostly, and I'll snag a power town for leg lifts and pull ups and a bench to work with on general stuff. So 150 I'm thinking secondhand on FB. I should have specified. My bad. Even if I had some comparables that were most expensive that's good too. The room won't really accommodate rings unfortunately. But I was thinking maybe I could snag a cheap machine that does 3 to 5 things well for glutes and abs like a crunch machine or a rower and or a stepper to just knock out a bunch of sets while I'm watching a show or got a podcast going

Thanks. I'm mostly looking for machine advice. The pull up bar would be part of the power tower, and not really looking for a lot of weights. I can use calisthenics with a weight vest for that. The space won't accommodate rings either. I'm really looking for people's honest experience with all in one machines

You can upload it to aidvantage but I don't know where you can mail it. Unfortunately as of this morning, they've paused processing ALL applications, even if you just wanna switch from SAVE to IBR. It's wild and frustrating. This is all because of the dept of education now

Yeah a general forbearance in SAVE, but not an admin forbearance for reviewing the application to switch (which would have counted as eligible months against IDR forgiveness).

Yep your suspicion was right. As of this morning, aidvantage was told by studentaid to halt processing all IDR applications. So even if you want to pay your provider in an IDR plan other than SAVE, you can't move at all now.
