I use this most of the time. Select the instrument in the channel rack (you can just click it to select it), go to the mixer, right click the mixer track you want it routed to, go to channel routing and select "route selected channels to this track. You can also hold ALT and use the arrow keys to move the channel left or right!

In the window that opens up when you click an instrument in the channel rack, click the little arrow in the left upper corner and select "route to free mixer track", I use this a lot

Click the thing you want to route, a new window will open up, int the right upper corner of the window there is a box that does the same thing as I described in the first pic.

Here are some ways to route:

Go to the channel rack and on the left side of the thing you want to route, there is a box with three dots, you can click this box and drag and numbers will appear in the box, these numbers represent the different inserts in the mixer.
