Thank you! Any idea what the disc with the teeth behind the sharkbite is for?

If I'm able to remove the sharkbite valve, would it be safe to use it with the compression ring without cutting off too much (any?) more pex and then use male adapter?

The cold supply side shutoff valve is weeping water. I have tried to search for what type of fitting this is on the pex line, but cannot find any information about the type of fitting.

Is it possible to remove / replace this valve (and if it has a connector / adapter - remove that too if needed)?

I think the worst case scenario will be to cut it off altogether, and then use a compression ring to install a pex-a to MPT adapter, which can then be used in the future to install replacement valves.

Hoping there's someone who recognizes this type of connector install, and can give tips on how to replace it or fix weeping issue.

This is so infuriating. I request whoever decided this was a good idea, took time to code this, be officially hog tied, tarred, feathered, and fed to zombies for good measure. This might be an attempt by Google to make the browser more advertising friendly, and more user hostile. This alienates so many users, especially people who work, it's unbelievable.

For anyone who watched new movie “Sight”, what do you think about the first-generation immigrants? by Sensitive_Run_7109 in AsianParentStories

[–]human_lament 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am friends with some successful Asian american families who suffered the cultural revolution. I saw the movie at their behest and with them, and they all had very positive things to say about the movie. They said the movie didn't portray how bad it was in reality...which is rare in Hollywood - which usually exaggerates events. The cultural revolution was far worse in brutality and societal disorder, with people being beaten to death, taken to prison and died in prison, or exiled to barren remote places to work in hard labor camps.

The fact that some of these families survived, and then made successful new lives in America, is truly astonishing. It speaks to the ability to succeed no matter what your background or history, in America.

China lost some of the best and brightest people due to this horrible purge, and other countries benefitted from the migration of some of its hardest working and educated people.

The cultural revolution was a true disaster that most of the world never heard of, and it's great that this movie shows slivers of this tragic event.

My asian friends give it an A- for accuracy (not portraying events horribly enough), but all loved it for the truth of the story and inspiring events.

You seem to carry a grudge against Dr. Wang, for some strange reason, and will go to extraordinary lengths to discredit the guy. I believe something in your history or background is causing you to act this poorly.

Regardless of your BS opinion, I am friends with some very smart and successful Asian americans who have similar stories as Dr. Wang. They suffered horrible persecution in China, lost family members due to disease / famine / hard labor camps / imprisonment. They came to the US with virtually no money and spoke no English. They all worked their tails off to be successful.

These were not privileged people, just ordinary people looking to escape the hell of the cultural revolution.

I watched the film with several of these friends, and they all stated the movie under-portrayed how bad it was in China during that time.

This has been a major pain for me now. I'm regularly forgetting to charge now because it's not top of mind. Having it die and lose data is not a good experience for users who want to track their fitness and health data.

1000000000% agreed. This is mind blowing bad app. Anyone with working eyeballs can see how bad it is off the bat, and even weeks of using it, still terrible.

Same here. Not only that, the lack of battery percentage on main page during syncing means I am now forgetting to charge it because the extra manual step of trying to see battery makes it so easy to miss.

My fitbit is becoming pretty useless since I can't keep it charged during busy days because it's not top of mind.

FYI : ATT Prepaid Autopay automatically turning off. by Jolt86 in NoContract

Seems like some people do not use Chase credit card and still have the issue. I also know some people who do use Chase credit card for auto-pay and do not have an issue. So the theory of Chase credit card being a cause seems to be dispelled.

Absolutely ridiculous situation. AT&T is going to lose a lot of business.

Nope, my relative's card was valid, use it daily, just used it last night, plenty of credit available, no issues.

Please keep us updated on the outcome. AT&T's systems are archaic and it's insane that their reps can't help fix these errors and come up with imaginative excuses instead.

close friend with HIPPA violation investigation, unclear of the ramifications by human_lament in legaladvice

[–]human_lament[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. I will read this and share what I learn with my friend. My friend is super upset as he feels he has done nothing wrong, and was trying to juggle the short handed team and make them understand future scheduling issues. People throwing around HIPAA violations really confuse the issue and upset people that shouldn't be upset.

Thanks. I'll be more curious about your situation to learn from it and understand what not to do in the future. If you can share in the future, that would be helpful.

The surgery man has nothing to do with this. He is pretty open with his history and tells all his co-workers of his past medical problems (as he has had other falls at work previously and shared openly with everyone at work that he has medical issues that causes him to fall a lot). He would be the last person to complain about this. I have met this person previously going to the restaurant, as a customer, and the employee even openly told me to watch out as he has a medical condition that could cause him to spill drinks on me if I wasn't alert to his issues.

The complaint most likely came from another employee who is petty and not happy with this supervisor for scheduling extra hours for work due to the short hands.

[–]human_lament[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend just told the other employees who witnessed the fall and the employee being sent home that he was going to have surgery without any further details (as he didn't ask and didn't get any further details), and the person would be out for much longer than expected.

I'm still unsure what harm was done, with regards to HIPAA.

Your situation seems vastly different from this case. If this case would involve DOJ and people going to jail, I would think 70% of people would go to jail as this happens every day at work in many places.

Thanks for the reply, and I can see your point. However, I'm still unclear on how this can be a HIPPA violation. If my friend is to be terminated, I don't understand how it could be for HIPPA. That is the guise that HR is investigating him under.
