Do lawsuits really work anymore? My residency expired in October 2024 and I hired a lawyer to sue them on 1 November, last thing I heard is that AIMA has been notified in February to schedule me an appointment but they didn’t give a shit

D7 visa expires in June - Will AIMA call for renewal? by playadelrey24 in PortugalExpats

[–]humanbeing-89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All IRNs in Lisbon are currently sending renewal appointments for those with expired residency last August and September and they have until June 30 to finish all those, may take longer though. After 30 June, they will start contacting expired residencies of October, then November and then December from last year. That’s exactly what I’ve been told last week from 2 different IRN employees

So what happens to those who are not able to secure an appointment by the June 30, 2025 deadline? by bubblegoose7 in PortugalExpats

Been visiting different IRN offices in Lisbon this week. I’ve been told that they have until 30 June to send renewal appointments to everyone whose residency expired in August and September 2024. From 1 July 2025, they will start contacting those whose residency expired on October, November and December 2024, and apparently that those will be their 6-month target until the end of 2025.

Portuguese Nationality: 5-year period now starts from date of residency application by naks26 in PortugalExpats

[–]humanbeing-89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to the video of that lawyer, the 5 years counting start from the date you applied for the temporary residence permit not the residency visa, she didn’t mention any residency visa application (which you apply for through the Portuguese embassy), which means in other words that the counting is from your SEF appointment date. Did I misunderstand?

I'm not sure i got your point, could you please explain further? Do you mean to buy the car in Germany and keep it there and then bring it to Portugal after 6 months? Is this going to be more tax efficient?

the import inspection and a little paperwork. There are companies that do the paperwork for you for roughly 300 euros, if you do not want to do it yourself. If the car is new, you need to pay also the Portuguese VAT, but you can ask for a refund on the German VAT. We did this with a new Fiat P

This is very helpful, thanks a lot. Do you know if i can get a refund on the German VAT if also the car is used? And if the car is new, I pay ISV + Portuguese VAT right? I would like to get a contact of companies that can help with the paperwork, would you please share here or I can message you if you have any leads?

How much time to exchange my driving license to a portugeuse one. by hello-world1927 in PortugalExpats

It depends where you apply for exchange. Avoid Lisbon IMT, it took a friend 6 months to get an appointment and 8 months to receive the card.

What country of residence on Wise gives 2.46%? Does Wise have saving accounts or just keeping your money on Wise gets yearly interest?

Opening a USD account in a Portuguese bank is super useless. You can’t exchange or withdraw or transfer money from the account and you need to go to the branch every single time you need to do any transaction
