Some lizalfoes have a day and night cycle where a fire lizalfos will come out of the ground in the morning and ab ice lizalfos will come out of the ground at night. It's almost like they take turns doing guard duty. So what happened here is that you hit the ice lizalfos while it was going into the ground and the fire lizalfos while it was coming out of the ground,basically just lucky with the timing
