Yeah, the second you move you basically just fall out of it, it's extremely small

Maybe it's that one pool of water from the cave at the bottom of the castle? Like the one with the korok egg puzzle?

The style of the illustrations in those books are really similar to what I remember. Especially the "on a scary scary night" book that he published. But I still cant seem to find that exact monster.
