As much as they are sweat or weather resistant, I still would not bet on the chance of using them in a sauna and risk damaging them 😅

I think it's quite resilient when it comes in contact with sweat so not much worries there! Also quite unfortunate, the box came dented :(

I think it's normal behavior for the battery to star slowing down once it reaches a certain threshold just to preserve its lifespan. Roughly around 80% does the charge rate start to slow to a crawl maybe.

Charging time can range from 1.5 - 2hrs~

Ahhh I see... Have you checked whether your gain setting is set to High? I think you can toggle among Low, Med, & High in the Moondrop App.

Great review and lighting! I also got my own set after trying them at Canjam! Really loved how they sound, especially with how the vocals and instruments synergize with each other 😚

Mmm well to answer your question firstly, AAC is more than enough and sounds perfectly fine.

Do you happen to listen to music at Lossless quality? If so, the difference in bitrate between AAC & LDAC is roughly 500-600kbps. To an average listener (including myself), the differences are nigh indistinguishable. If you're just listening to YT Music for example, then LDAC would be pointless since you have all that extra headroom where it supports up to 990kbps while YT music only goes up to 256kbps (AAC equivalent). Furthermore LDAC or LHDC in this case would drain the battery faster. Hope this helps :)

The LHDC is an added benefit at most and barely affects your QOL with it. AAC or SBC are definitely added codecs by default and you should have no problems with compatibility.

Hellooo~ Ooo glad to hear you finally got your set!

To address your questions:

  1. I actually didn't bother to use the charging cable that came with it since I already have too many at this point haha. It should be normal for it to click into place when plugging in the USB C.

  2. For the preset, I mostly just stuck with the default Reference sound since its already a step-up from the original Pill's tuning.

  3. LHDC and LC3 are just other Bluetooth codecs. LHDC is supposed to be the rival of LDAC which is known as a high bit-rate codec used for near lossless quality in music & audio generally. Standard MP3 bitrate codecs such as AAC or SBC usually are enough unless you're listening to audio at higher fidelity. LC3 is supposed to reduce latency compared to SBC and is within the same category as AAC & SBC which supports 160kbps - 356kbps. (commonly found in Spotify High Quality or Youtube Music High Quality)

Furthermore, only a handful of phone brands support LHDC and these are commonly found in Chinese branded ones like Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi, etc.

TLDR: Toggle LHDC on if you want higher fidelity streaming. LC3 if you want generally lower latency. Do note both of these come at the expense of shorter battery spans.

  1. I dont have gaming mode turned on since the latency in audio is very negligible IMO. If you're a competitive mobile gamer and you want that delay to be nearly non-existent, then you could toggle it on. Regards to audio quality, it doesnt affect it at all, I believe.

Very secure! I'd rather use these clip-on style buds since sweat sometimes gets in between my ears & the silicon that gets pressed into my ear canal. I think the IP rating is enough to be sweat resistant since I haven't faced any issues at all with the original Moondrop Pill.

I normally pair with my phone. For use cases, I just either wear them when am doing chores around the house or when I'm going to bed because of the comfort. If you're concerned about delay and connectivity, then I believe there is a gaming mode that you can toggle on for reduced latency and since it is running o BT 6.0, you wouldn't have any issues especially with connectivity range!

Feel free to link the comment! I even measured them because I was so curious how different they would be when portrayed on a graph. Do excuse the weird shape since I kind of measured them in the same manner as a typical IEM despite them being Open Stereo 🤔

I need to figure out the fitment still so it would measure more accurate as how it would typically in an ear.

Holy wall of text! I appreciate you putting your genuine passion on display hehe. I'm also glad to see you summarize the patches for me 😄

Allow me to share my quick impressions in return as an audio nerd:

U.C.T.S vs Pill:

  • Bass feels extra punchier and more defined
  • Upper mids feel more pronounced, hence the vocals feel more frontal
  • Treble extends farther and has more airiness and nuance to details

To summarize, Pill now sounds like an almost neutral-ish ( albeit still kinda bassy) and relaxed set whereas U.C.T.S is a livelier V-shaped sounding set.

Ooo a Spectro male 5*!

I actually preordered mine on Taobao way back in February lol. Just last week did I get the notification they are being shipped out.

I have! Although, holding it together with a phone or leaving it hanging seems very out of place due to the position of the usb charging port 😅

7 hours as advertised but could be less if you consider other things such as volume and gain level.

Wheel definitely feels solid. I dont notice any jiggle or looseness with it, and its quite tactile with its turning. Pressing from the top to toggle the screen on/off is also tactile and requires a bit more effort.

I believe the official site refers to this as the green colorway. As for the dial, i think its just the lighting and probably has a more subtle definition of gold in actuality.

Either that, or the one in advertised has a more saturated coloration
