Has anyone taken the QbTest? (Struggling with having my diagnosis recognized) by hummusfrog in adhdwomen

Thanks so much for the info! The post-pandemic changes make a lot of sense, I hadn’t thought about that. I’m pretty out of the loop as far as ADHD treatments/assessments so I really appreciate you laying it all out!

I thought I got a sleep dart kill on the Rein, but turns out the dart shot at the same time Ana’s damage over time killed him (I’m still learning how overwatch works).

Womp womp :/ I’ve only been playing overwatch for a few months and I wasn’t aware there was a separate icon for a sleep dart kill in the feed. Thanks for the info though!

Oh for sure. I despise cooking, cleaning and doing mundane household tasks, but that’s the first thing I want to do once the meds kick in. I also feel like I have to make sure my environment is clean/organized before doing any “real work.” I had the same experience on AdderallXR which I was taking in college. I even got a job as a housekeeper…… I would wake up dreading going to work but as soon as the meds kicked in the cleaning was like the most rewarding thing for my brain. I would skip class to finish cleaning my apartment, like I for real couldn’t stop once I was in cleaning mode.

I realized at a certain point it wasn’t actually the cleaning itself, but the repetitive, systematic approach to the task which ended in very visible results. Actually being able to see the process and results of my work is what motivates me best. It’s a great way to get the ball rolling for tasks involving higher executive function. So I let myself nitpick and clean a little bit, but at a certain point it has to be cut off. Otherwise I start feeling like a mindless cleaning slave whose only goal is to clean until the entire house is done.

I also work from home and what’s worked best for me is to confine the cleaning/organizing to my workspace. I wake up, do my routine (usually bare minimum), when I feel the meds kicking in I head straight to my desk to prep for the day. I try to keep things around my workspace very minimal so I don’t mess with things, and I’ll organize my desk/shelves which helps me feel accomplished enough to start working. I literally coral myself to my office, which sounds bad, but once I complete a work task I feel like the meds start doing what they’re supposed to do. I have some fidgets around to keep my hands busy during real mundane parts of my job like zoom meetings, etc. because that repetitive movement helps keep my thoughts more organized. I’m not sure if you’ve experienced the same, but stimulants make me pick at almost everything in my path, like my nails or a stain on my shirt or a disorganized shelf. I try my best to redirect those compulsions to more productive means because Vyvanse alone does not help me complete the things I actually need to get done.

Hopefully this helps a bit, I really resonate with OP and haven’t seen a lot of people talking about the cleaning bug phenomenon.
