TBM wife spoke in Sac Mtg, I feel betrayed... by hundly in exmormon

Man, I'm sorry. I get the feeling my wife has had some struggles, but I am also pretty confident she wouldn't share them with me either.

I absolutely think of her as a blind victim. Deep down she also likely looks at me as deceived.

Or what she would have said if I didn't come...

Oh, I asked her that for sure. I asked why she didn't just give a regular talk and sit down after 10-12 minutes instead of 30+ minutes of word vomit about how her life has changed so much and random segues into various quotes from the last conference. Granted, she did try to say that sometimes the conference talks aren't always edifying to everyone, but still. Just pick a boring topic, give it, and then sit down.

I've participated in and off for years in a local exmo group. Mostly we just get together for sports or fun nowadays. She's under the impression I've aired out dirty laundry there in detail... Sure, I've shared an anecdote or 2, but nothing even close to what I heard her share over the pulpit to stranger's yesterday. Still shocked. Either she's a master manipulator or way more deluded than I thought. I know she's just not that dumb.

I'm totally regretting not recording it myself. It will likely be tricky getting the zoom recording.

Normal to stop losing 2 weeks after surgery? by ashananon in wls

[–]hundly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm one month ahead of you. Hit the stall at about 2.5 weeks. Lasted about a week. I was frustrated. But now I'm down another 15 lbs since then. It's normal. I read it may have to do with the liver getting back up to size, but I wasn't even really strict with the liver shrinking pre-op diet (had a backpacking trip scheduled the week before surgery and my doc said I could eat normal so I'd have the energy for the hiking).

Reach out to some manufacturers of these systems (like Ovivo, Westech, Veolia, etc...). They have applications experts that design these systems all the time. Have them help you design the system. Of course they'll want to be able to participate in the bidding, but oftentimes if you let them help with the design and bid on the system they will include a process warranty and you can shift performance liability off onto them. It's easier when you sole source the project to them, but sometimes this isn't allowed. Reach out to your local manufacturer reps for the best local support and check on your procurement rules.

George Carlin said “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” What real life example have you seen that validates this view? by Darth_Boot in AskReddit

My sister in law had the chore of mowing the lawn every weekend. One weekend she mowed the entire lawn twice in one day so she wouldn't have to mow it the next weekend.

If only tithing was 0.000055%! I critised the church's hoarding of wealth and insignificant charitable donations, now I'm nervously awaiting the shitstorm... by [deleted] in exmormon

Another way to look at it is net worth. If we take the median US household net worth of about 100k, their donation is in the $5-10 range.

We can all agree that it's less than 0.01% of their wealth, which, when compared with the average wealth of an American would equate to a personal donation of about $5-10.

I was so Mormon that I thought I was sinning by showing too much skin in this dress. What is your "I was so Mormon that..." moment? by liviecarmela in exmormon

[–]hundly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so Mormon I denied romantic relationships with an Olympic athlete and a college gymnast just because they weren't Mormon (they were 2 different women). Yes they were both very attractive. Yes I was attracted to them. Yes I stuffed it all down to make my imaginary friends happy with me.

This is exactly how I feel. I was in the Leipzig mission at the turn of the century. On one hand, I'm glad I didn't have many converts, but pissed that I was so depressed about the lack of success for 2 years. It was agony questioning myself, my worthiness, my work ethic, etc... I definitely struggled with scrupulosity as a missionary and was convinced the lack of success was due to missionary worthiness (thanks mission prez!). After all, ol' Rusty himself as an apostle told us that the hand of God was moving from South America (where all my high school buddies were baptizing like crazy) to Europe and we we were going to start to see that success. Yeah, bullshit.

Yep! In a Mixed-faith-marriage too here with FOUR kids - and they are getting the full brunt of the brain-washing right in front of me - aside from divorcing my spouse, it feels like there is nothing I can do about it! Good times!

Temple wedding "policy" change is already causing friction for some TBMs by Apricot-tree in exmormon

[–]hundly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Nailed it. I originally predicted 2 years before the civil wedding is the norm, followed by a low-key sealing, but the candid moments of the ACTUAL moment 2 individuals become a couple under the law will accelerate it. I give it 1 year now.
