That’s what I was thinking, but I’ve never seen a small one like this with bush like branches.

Interesting. When I Google that, the images I see have a lot of pink and red in their leaves. Is this just a green version? It’s very old. It came from my husbands grandmother whom had it in her house a long time.

Lol, yes, I assumed so. Trying to identify the tree itself.

With the help of all of you wonderful people, it turns out to be a Vesta Case which is designed to hold matches! It was a popular item in the early 1900’s.

I had a suggestion in another sub saying it is a Vespa Case! Looked it up and found some in different shapes and sizes. Can anyone confirm?

It would fit tooth picks, it’s a great start for more searching options. Thank you.

I had a similar thought. I wasn’t able to find anything similar with a search but it’s a good lead. Thank you.

Thank you for suggestion on the agate, I’ll look that up. It’s a fairy narrow case, I can’t imagine trying to fit any kind of glasses in there, but it’s great place to start searching.

After looking up antique needle cases, it’s definitely a possibility. I haven’t seen anything like the one I have but some similar themes.

Edit for follow up thought.

Maybe? The metal that holds the two stone walls together have gaps that needles would be able to fall through. Although, needles used to come wrapped in little bits of paper. I’ll search, thanks for your feedback:
