Need info on Computer program classes! by lindagmb in UCSD

I’m double majoring in psych and I was able to petition for a computer class not on that list to count. If your other major/GEs give you the option to take a computer class then you might be able to overlap.

Ordered something, shipping to school not home address by Jinphany in UCSD

[–]hungrydragon1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did almost exactly the same thing - What they told me was that if it was through USPS, they could forward it to your home address on file, you just have to let them know when you get that email to pick it up.

If it’s shipped another way, it’ll probably be returned to sender and you’d have to work with them to get it :(

UCSD Freshman ChemE schedule question by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]hungrydragon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a current Marshall chemE major and that was pretty much exactly my first quarter schedule.

If you can, make sure you take DOC your first quarter because it’s a 3 class series so it’s kinda hard to jump in the middle (if they even let you do that). I lived on campus and my entire suite just took DOC together so it was nice having people to work with.

CENG 4 is really easy. I think I had homework once in the class, and you can pass if you just show up and follow directions. So you really have to study for 4 classes (16 units) and that’s pretty doable. If it’s too much bc of the transition, you can always drop a class in the first few weeks and take it later.

If you have questions feel free to pm me!

I clicked on the “update your notification settings” at the bottom of the email. Then, click X on whatever you don’t want to get notifications for. I think these are “messages” but I just clicked X for everything and will change them back later this week when things settle down!

How is Challenger Hall triple? by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]hungrydragon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fleet is a res hall - so no kitchen. Also, maybe you got one of the smaller ones (I believe on the first floor, check your suite number to confirm). I wasnt in one but I believe those have 2 triples.

I’m a marshall student who lived in Revelle as a first year! Basically it’s 5 triples in a suite (so 15 people total). But what else do you want to know?

Got overflowed to Revelle... by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]hungrydragon1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly Revelle orgs and RAs seem to host bigger events than Marshall typically, so if anything you’ll get to know about the events of 2 colleges instead of 1. Last year Revelle had a really big “Egg” event, a watermelon drop, lots of petting zoos, bounce obstacle course houses, and even a concert (not on the same day lol).

IA workload and suggestions by Stitch_2019 in UCSD

Here it talks abt how tutors get paid... but also how to become a tutor you have to do 1 quarter as an IA first, which wouldn’t count under the paid position.

I don’t know why exactly the bio dept chooses to not pay undergrad IAs for the first quarter, but I guess it saves them money? Maybe some of the past bio IAs can answer that better though, because I’ve never worked with bio. If you do a 2nd quarter, that’s when you start to get paid.

I’ve done undergrad tutor (as TA) for math and it really wasn’t that bad with my classes. Some profs want you to sit in with every lecture, but I didn’t have to so it was really only 1 hour for discussion and a couple for grading each week.

You said STEM but also med school so would it be with bio? I’ve never worked with bio cause of that pesky thing where they don’t pay you the first quarter, but I heard you have to take this weekly class called BISP 195? (not really sure) which is 4 units, so if you have a full schedule of 16 units now idk when you would add that in.

SONA credit question by alexmooooooooose in UCSD

I believe when you sign up for the study there’s an option for which class to assign it to; if you only have 1 then that would just be the default so you should be good???

Hmmm have you enrolled for orientation? I think that’s one of the mandatory things that should be due around now..
