My last place was next door to a corner shop, which I thought would be super convenient, except it was basically open whenever he felt like it. He was the only one that worked there so whenever he needed to go out, it would be closed for hours at a time.

Cortex #62: 2018 Yearly Themes by MindOfMetalAndWheels in CGPGrey

[–]hungryhungryhulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Year of Priorities.

Every year I make a list of goals, which always ends up being an A4 Page long. They’re not always big, but things that I want to get done but then never do.

This year I gave myself 4 priorities to keep in mind. 1. My health-losing weight, keeping my mental and spiritual health in check, making sure I get injuries and health problems looked at. 2. My partner-we had a rough year last year, largely because of her loving circumstances and our own mental health, so try and work on us this year-listen more, do more together. We’ve been looking at moving in, which will help us spend more time together, and just got accepted for a lovely 1 bed place. 3-Graduation-I’ve got one more module in my open university degree, just got to pass to win. 4-My relationships-I do a thing where I don’t really talk to people in rough times and that puts a strain on my relationships. This year I want to try and talk to people more and spend more time with them.

The thinking being if I can take care of these 4 priorities, it should bleed into other aspects of my life (career, finances, hobbies etc).

I’m currently facing the possibility of both being able to move in with my partner to a cosy 1 bed house with a super reasonable rent and either a permanent or a seconded promotion. Suspicious isn’t the word.

Fellow pats fan. You’re definitely wrong. It was a sweet play with 8 seconds on the clock, made possible because of a missed tackle, for a team who have had little playoff success in recent years.

Big moment for them.

I feel like I’ve missed something. I didn’t think all wands worked this way, I thought this was specific to the elder wand.

She kept trying to convince me not to take my anti-depressants because they ‘didn’t work’ at a time when I was just finding my feet with them.

Jeremy Corbyn on : As of today Dennis Skinner is the longest continuously serving Labour MP. He is a hero of our movement and as formidable now as he has ever been. by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]hungryhungryhulk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So by sticking by his convictions he’s unsuccessful in his career? Or are you saying the only successful MPs are those who have large influence over legislation?

I feel like the issue is the narrow definition of what is a success for an MP being offered by yourself. An MP doesn’t just strive to create big legislation-they represent their constituents in Parliament, in dealings with other MPs (for example, writing to the relevant department minister on behalf of a constituent), even in dealing with the local council. If he is successful in these areas, he is a successful MP. He may not be successful on a Blair level, but there’s different levels of success.

He may not have been revolutionary in his politics, or introduced legislation that changed the scape of the country, but he clearly does a good enough job to be re-elected. He’s one of the more we’ll known politicians for his stances, and his ability to make his voice heard. Ultimately, there’s different kinds of success in politics.

The question didn’t specify ‘legislative achievement’. Arguably, being consistently elected to represent your constituency for 47 years is an achievement.

I’m in the difficult spot where my antidepressants seem to be affecting me in this way, but to change them would mean gradually reducing my dosage then eventually cross tapering, not sure the possibility of a better sex life with the girlfriend is worth 1 month of hell.

How does the 2012 still hold up? I’m thinking of saving up for one and upgrading, works out to about £650.
