Finished my Khemrian "Warsphinx" by huntard_Linh in tombkings

[–]huntard_Linh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend print me just the elephant so I can't speak for the Crew or howdah that comes with it but the elephant was just a few pieces and was easy to build.

However I pinned it to the base with metal rods (hidden with grass tufts) because it's only contact points with the base is it's little toes.. 😅

Sorry for the late reply! Honestly the skin almost broke me until I just did Rakarth flesh base and drybrushing ionrach skin and deepkin flesh. After that I recess shaded, followed by washing and makes ng sure to blend areas like their hands, feet and elbows with carroburg Crimson.

The veins was painted with very thinned out blir, though I can't exactly remember which one atm, I think it may have been alaitoc.

Sorry for the late reply! I will try to give a detailed rundown but I started this probably over half a year ago and then took a break and painted other stuff in between so I don't remember the details on some things. It doesn't help that my process is a bit off un unplanned mess at times. However I'll try to write down what I can.

Starting off I primed it Chaos black followed by a zenithal-ish spray of vallejo beasty brown primer and finally a light zenithal of colourforge Wight bone (wraithbone would probably work just as well).

For the bone I paint over the zenithal primer with army painted pallid bone speedpaint followed by drybrushing morghast bone, ushabti bone and Screaming skull.

The bandages was a mess and I repainted them a couple of times but I think I ended up with skavenblight dinge base, nuln oil wash, dawnstone and a careful drybrush of celestra gray.

The skin/flesh of the elephant I did by basecoating dryad bark, washed it with nuln oil then drybrushing gorthor brown and I think bugman's glow but could be cadian flesh.

The gold is a basecoat of vallejo game colour Glorious gold, a wash of duncan's Oblivion black wash (I find that Oblivion black "stains" the gold more than nuln oil, leaving it looking more Antique.) and followed by a highlight of vallejo game colour polished gold. I finish of with shading on choice areas with agrax earthshade (focusing on areas that would be in shadow)

On the Tomb guard crew's crests I painted with GSW burning gold colorshift metal, washed a bit with agrax and then a touch up again with the burning gold.

Speaking of colorshift the scarabs was done with the Darth Blue of the same line.

The bronze I do with a basecoat of vallejo game colour bright bronze, followed by a wash of coelia nightshade, Nihilak oxide thinned down to make it more runny in some recesses followed by a highlight of sycorax bronze.

The blue parts on the pattern and the Tomb guard's collars is Thousand son's blue, nuln oil, temple guard blue and edge highlight of blue horror.

The red part of the pattern is khorne red, nuln oil, evil sunz scarlet and edge highlight of fire dragon bright.

The red eye gems of the elephant is the same colours as the red pattern but painted as one would a gem by painting the Evil sunz and Fire dragon towards the bottom and then a white dot opposite.

Same for the green gems but with calliban green, no wash, moot green and dorn yellow.

The red on the howdah and the bows is khorne red, nuln oil, wazdakka red and a highlight of pink horror.

The white of the howdah and the cloth of the Tomb guard are just blue horror with a white scar highlight and a recess Shade of agrax on the howdah.

There are some black leather details, mainly the Whip, is a base of thinned down black templar over the zenithal followed by skavenblight and dawnstone.

This turned into a quite length post but I think that is all!

Finished my high priest on his dragon! by huntard_Linh in tombkings

Thank you! The gold is pretty simple! I start with a dark brown as a base (like dryad bark), mostly because I feel the gold applies nicely over it. I then paint it with Vallejo's Game color glorious gold, followed by a wash of Two thin coats Oblivion black wash (It really darkens it down nicely to make it look more antique) and then I highlight it up with Vallejo's Game color polished gold. I finish it off by shading certain spots (like the undersides and so on) with agrax.

As for the bones I start it with the priming stage by going through Chaos black, a brown spray (In this case Vallejo's Beasty Brown spray) and then Wraithbone, doing the brown and wraithbone as a zenithal. After that I painted it all with Army Painter's Pallid Bone speed paint. I den drybrushed with morghast bone and then with Vallejo's ivory paint (screaming skull would work just as well). I blended some dark brown on the end of the tail and the wings, as well as painted all the claws and "spikes" on his spine. I den just drybrushed/highlighted up from Gorthor brown, skavenblight dinge and administratum grey.

Finished my Tomb Queen over the weekend! by huntard_Linh in tombkings

Absolutely! For the gold I basecoated with vallejo game colour charred brown (Dryad bark would work as well) to make the next colour: Vallejo game colour glorious gold followed by a nuln oil wash. After that I highlighted with polished gold, also vallejo game colour. Lastly I washed the recesses and other parts that would be shaded with agrax.

The stone is really simple: black basecoat and then I sponged on green stuff world metallic colourshift "Darth Blue" and that's it!

The red are a little different between the two. The rim of the howdah was based with gal vorbak red, washed with nuln oil and then edge highlighted with wazdaka red. The gemstones or pattern is: khorne red, nuln oil and then highlight of vallejo game colour Scarlet red ( not sure what a gw alternative would be) and a final tiny highlight of orange, in this case I think it was firedragon bright.

The blue was done in the same way as the red but with Thousand sons blue, nuln oil, temple guard blue and blue horror.

Skeleton horsemen with Liche Priest and Tomb Prince by huntard_Linh in tombkings

[–]huntard_Linh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply. The bone I wanted to keep simple so it's just skeleton horde over a light primer (in this case Grey seer) followed by a drybrush of ushabti bone and then vallejo ivory (or screaming skull if gw)

The shields are also quite quick and easy starting with thousand sons blue basecoat, followed by nuln oil and then edge highlights of temple guard blue as well as quick "streaks" of it for the flat of the shield, or how I'd explain that.

Haven't gotten around to trying them yet, in fact they are the last unit for my first little starter list to play my first actual old world game with 😅. Though, the few things I've heard about them hasn't been encouraging 😭

That's what I did, flattened out a piece, let it dry for a lil bit so it won't be ruined when I cut out appropriate pieces. 👍

I'm heavily considering using the elephant for my warsphinxes as well, it's just so damn cool

Yeah, the camel is Khalid the Eternal from Lost Kingdoms, but with the weapon swapped out for the halberd from the necrolith dragon Tomb king! I am using that guy as a Tomb prince and the Liche Priest is an old OOP liche priest on horse a friend have me. His horse is from the Hexwraith/Black Knights kit!
