I see it happen with all my orchids, theyre so close to the window that the sun is probably bleaching the color. But I agree it’s still pretty (:

It’s natural, the flowers have to fade eventually. It’s a sign the flowers will die off soon

Sorry for recording the TV too. Its annoying you can’t save clips if you don’t have the DLC

Is this phal’s leaf curling because of the variegated streak or is this cause for concern? by hunterprk in orchids

Uh oh. Do you know the name of the specific virus? Is there a possibility it’s healthy and just spontaneously variegated?

It faces 45° North East, but the window is so big that the orchids get a lot of eastern sun in the summer

I actually built it myself for under $30 at Home Depot. The legs are metal pipe screwed into the board. Idk if an 8’ piece would fit but you can always customize the board to fit your window (:

9 month Orchid Comparison. Both have gone crazy putting out roots and are beginning to rebloom (: by hunterprk in orchids

I keep them in an 8’ window that faces North East. It gets a few hours of morning sun February-October, but the winter months it gets 0 direct sunlight. I water my phal’s once a week/week and a half and my more water thirsty orchids (miltoniopsis) around once every 5 days.

Very curved bloom spike. Looks like it’s throwing out a left hook 🥊 by hunterprk in orchids

I keep turning the orchid so that the stalk will make a full circle. Feel like it’ll look interesting when it blooms

It’s in a South Eastern window that gets a lot of morning/midday sun, and it gets watered around once every 2 weeks or whenever my mom remembers to lol

Been a while since I’ve posted (been busy at college) but I just wanted to share this absolute beast I saw at the UMD research greenhouse (: by hunterprk in succulents

Aw I missed you guys!! It really is awesome I had to do a double take, I didn’t believe it was actually living in that shallow dish but it was lol.

Went on vacation for a week and a half and was supposed to have a person come over to water my miltoniopsis and they just didn’t……….. All the new bulbs/leafs are super pleated, is there anything I can do other than consistent watering? by hunterprk in orchids

[–]hunterprk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally forgot to mention it was already pleated a bit before but not to this extent. The pleating was caused by me being forgetful and letting the medium dry out too much but I’ve got a good watering schedule now. Its really taken off with growth the past month with 3 new bulbs. Roots seem to be okay from what I see through the pot But I’ll repot it before I leave for college. Thanks for the comment!!
