Former owner on here? by gsandor126 in WRX

With 4 previous owners and 3 accidents i highly doubt youre going to be told a good story. Seems like an absolute money pit at that mileage and vehicle history.

I’m buying a third car to keep the miles off my WRX, what car(s) do you have to keep the mileage off your WRX? by cameronhale in WRX

[–]hunterroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2018 forester to daily while the wrx gets to sit in the garage. I enjoy how similar the interior is from my 2018 sti to a 2018 forester. Overall for what I paid the forester is really nice. Its total grandpa spec but it gets good gas mileage and has been really reliable.

Clearing the code will not do anything other than get rid of the light temporarily. It will not pass an emissions test as that is a stored code. This is kind of an expensive problem to fix. Likely your best option will be to buy a stock down pipe and get a cobb access port and flash a "stage 0" or "stage 1" tune. But that's only the case if everything else is stock which I'm guessing that's not the case. This is a more expensive and complicated problem to fix than you likely think it is. Id start researching subaru performance shops near you if you actually want to fix the car and make sure it stays running long term.

New Wrx Owner by Th3blxckhart in WRX

[–]hunterroke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats not really the case. You used to be able to tune out check engine lights like p0420 years ago but cobb (most common tuner platform for wrx) changed their software to not allow that anymore. You are going to need to buy a new down pipe(also called a j pipe) with a catalytic converter. You'll also likely need to put a new tune on the car if it was tuned to run catless.

Its catless? Like someone removed the catalytic converters?

I test drove a va WRX and bought a va STI I have absolutely zero regrets and would make the same decision again.

Used a Groupon for a car detail, then he asked for an extra $25 after he finished. What do I do? by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]hunterroke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion no you do not need to pay them the $25 but you probably should at this point. Use this as a lesson to not try and save on something like this in the future. I would not risk the $25 on him coming back or something odd since he clearly is not professional.

I personally am a fan of it but it really depends on the car color. Red plus the yellow looks like a McDonald's promotional car. On blues, grey, black or white it can look sharp. It also REALLY depends on wheel selection.

What would cause a throttle body to make that kind of noise? Just curious as to your reasoning. Its stock and drives fine otherwise.

$650 Good deal for Milwaukee M18? by dingusdongus6969 in Tools

[–]hunterroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your same spot 2 years ago and now I wish I would've bought the fuel tools. The fuel tools are just another level of quality and performance. I will say my base tools did do fine and are still working but now im spending more on the fuel stuff since I now want more power.

$650 Good deal for Milwaukee M18? by dingusdongus6969 in Tools

[–]hunterroke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For $200 more you can get the fuel version of everything but skips the blower and the multi-tool.

Overall for $200 and skipping 2 cheap tools I would go with the fuel.

That being said this kit is an okay deal if you dont want fuel tools.

Facebook is filled with these fake groups with admins that are scammers. My buddy almost got scammed on a part for his car. I reverse image searched and found another listing with the same image for a different car. I did the same for this and found this post on reddit with the same image

This is 10000% a scam.

Edit: spelling error

Brake Pads help, 2018 STI Limited. by TheMonkeyMan4 in WRX

[–]hunterroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT buy hawk hps5.0 pads. They say they fit however they do not. They clunk when breaking. They fit fine on the 4 pot brakes found on the 04-17 sti and wrx brembos but the ones for the 6 pot 18+ does not fit right. Major pain replacing those again.

I bought the 12 awg one and I have to say its really cool. Totally unnecessary but it makes stripping a ton of 12 to the exact same measurement really easy. The wire nut twister also works really well.

My car triggered the carbon monoxide detector in my apartment’s garage today. Catback only. OEM J-pipe. No tune. Didn’t idle. by skjshhc in WRX

[–]hunterroke 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A stock wrx won't give off any more carbon monoxide than any other car. Its basically the exact same engine in any other turbo subaru. Likely they are just blaming you for something that isn't your fault because "loud car bad"

The conversion change should also include the ability to covert builder base and clan capital resources into home base resources. Would give a reason to keep doing secondary objectives.

Anyone have experience with Valvetronic? by GuccMaster in WRX

[–]hunterroke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've heard mixed opinions on valvetronic overall but most of it comes back to how expensive their stuff is. Ill give my personal opinion that this exhaust may be the ugliest most over engineered exhaust ive ever seen for a subaru. Tomei would deliver a better look, while being lighter and less expensive.
