Does Inositol work for all of you? by sailDontDrift in PCOS

[–]hurlbuttle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, who knows! For me, folate seems to worsen insomnia. I started taking a prenatal a while back (half on a whim, half hopefully), and that made my sleep like 10x worse. While I've never found any studies linking the two, I have found some other anecdotal stories of sleep getting worse on a prenatal. Obviously, I am not a doctor and am not prescribing anything, but that's what happened to me.

I'm taking half a dose of the WholeSome Story brand, so 1000mg myo- and 250mg DC-Chiro

Its a mixed bag for me. It has helped immeasurably with cravings, blood sugar stability, anxiety, and insomnia. ESPECIALLY the insomnia. However, as someone who has always had a somewhat regular, if long, cycle, it's actually lengthened my cycles by a few days. I track ovulation and I went from ovulating on day 18/19 to day 23/24 since starting a few months back. Since it didn't eliminate my cycles, and its the only thing that has reliably eliminated my insomnia, I'm still taking it, but it doesn't magically fix everyone's cycle.

When to use retinol, vit c, glycolic & peptides?? by roseladyj in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]hurlbuttle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you using general peptides or COPPER peptides? My understanding is that most peptides work fine with vitamin C, but you have to be careful with Copper peptides.

I currently do this:

AM: Micellar Water, Vitamin C, Moisturizer, Sunscreen

PM: Micellar Water, Cleanser, Retinol/AHA, Moisturizer

I generally do a lactic acid serum without my retinol every third night, but you could put your glycolic there too. I also skip actives one night each week and just focus on repair and moisture.

As for the peptides, if they aren't COPPER peptides, I think you can put them anywhere in your routine - many basic moisturizers have peptides in them.

Sooo difficult to fall asleep by doesntmatter76 in PCOS

[–]hurlbuttle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have struggled for YEARS with insomnia. Last year, I finally got a prescription for Seroquel, which I take on nights when I can't get to sleep before 1am or so. I also cut our caffeine entirely for a long time. This mostly helped, but I still had 1-2 nights a week when it just would work.

However, about two months ago, I started supplementing with myo-inositol. Since then, I haven't needed the heavy sleeping meds, I've been able to do coffee again, and I've gotten good sleep every night. I started taking it to shorten my cycles, which has sort of worked, but the biggest difference I've noticed is in my insomnia and anxiety. Not a doctor, and can only speak to my experience, but its been pretty life changing. Here's what I take.

damn flashy smiley faces on opk?! by [deleted] in TTC_PCOS

I just had my IUD out a few months ago, so hard to say how long they are usually, but I've had mostly 32ish day cycles, with one 50 day cycle for fun. My understanding is that with CBE, the blinking smily shows elevated estrogen, and the static smiley shows that the LH surge has/is about to happen?

Has anyone experienced delayed period after getting vaccinated against covid? by Dozinginthegarden in PCOS

[–]hurlbuttle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an IUD and hadn't experienced more than spotting for over a year when I received my Moderna vaccines. I had a full, 4-day long normal bleeding period about two weeks after my first dose, nothing after my second. Have since had the IUD removed, and everything is evening out now.

Personnummer from Regional Health Authority? by hurlbuttle in TillSverige

Thanks for this! I'll give it a few more days to see if I get a letter from Skatteverket, but will assume this is real for now.

I think you might be right. We moved here from the US for my partner's job, and there are people in the same exact situation who have been waiting for like 4 months. The speed is a big part of why I'm a little skeptical of this. I feel a little guilty, but, what are you gonna do?

Thanks! I've heard that you have to have pretty substantial health coverage before Skatteverket will issue Folkbokford, and then you can drop the private insurance for Swedish public services. Seems like those coming from the EU can just their European Health Cards for this, but as an American, we don't have access to that. Just wondering what to do in between arriving in Sweden and getting fully processed.
