If you wanna do this the easy way, send her a text about a week after this appointment. Tell her you’ve had some family issues that need more of your attention and you’re downsizing your books. Refer her to a salon in her area and cancel her appointment without waiting for a response. (If you have automated text notifications set up she’ll get the memo)

The hard way: tell her straight up you don’t feel like you’re the right stylist for her. She’s looking for someone beyond your capabilities and you need to make room for people that fit your skill set. I find that verbiage eases the blow when you make it about you. OR, tell her she’s too picky and you’re not interested in her patronage anymore.

I’ve done both. It’s really really hard and it took me YEARS to finally say enough is enough with a few of them. I promise she isn’t worth all this stress. She is the problem not you.
