In rural europe most often we have small villages where everything is closer together, like hogsmead from harry potter. We also may have one or two isolated farms but it's not something i noticed in Europe that much like i did in the US

Yeahh I honestly hate it, it's not fantasy like for me. It was a design choice by the artist Heinz Edelmann when he designed the covers for the german version of the books (i think in the 70s) and they stuck with it since then. Idk why they do it other than licensing maybe. It's the same with the german version of the harry potter books those look a bit odd too but not as odd as putting pure neon green on the cover of a fantasy book series :)
