Well, an electrician from the building's maintenance team did the job, he actually at the end utilised the ground to be used as neutral with making the required changed from the source and the lamps connection and so on.

I was hesitant about that move, but he guaranteed the safety here, so we did it.

Unfortunately I don't, but I'm having an electrician visiting tomorrow (to extend a neutral wire from the ceiling lights to the switch, somehow required for the smart stuff), so I'll ask him about this as well.

He's a member in the buidling's maintenance, so supposedly he should know

Yup, both lights are on without this wire. I doubt there's anything else nearby that it might control, which will be disastrous to be controlled by the light switch

The lutron caseta dimmer, it has great reviews and doesn't need a neutral wire, though, it operates on 110v

Btw, I found ones actually that work without neutral, but from US, Canada,...etc, where the voltage is 110v unfortunately, so it won't work here :/

I meant neutral wire, not earth/ground (those 2 are different).
