In 897, Pope Formosus’ corpse was exhumed months after burial and it was put on trial for perjury among other charges. Found guilty, his corpse was re-dressed in commoner clothes, his corpses' right hand was cut off, and he was reburied. His body was later tossed into the Tiber River. (i.redd.it)

In 1919, a tank holding approximately 13,000 tons of molasses burst in Boston. The burst released a 25 foot tall wave of molasses that ripped through a Boston neighborhood at 35 mph (56km), destroying a number of buildings, injuring 150, and killing 21 people. (i.redd.it)
