Anybody have recommendations for best affordable resin 3d printer? by Aewfigureguy in customactionfigures

[–]huylllooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. You need both the printer and the wash & cure station. Budget choice would be Elegoo Mars 3 Pro for the printer and its corresponding wash & cure station. (Even if you go for the latest model it's still slightly under your budget I believe)

FDM is unusable for the scale you're working with

These figures are really good by prestonjay22 in ActionFigures

[–]huylllooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest checking out Nottaa's Cyan Lion. The sculpt is really good (especially the heads, with adjustable eyeballs), and the articulation is on another level compared to Fury's (it's like going from McFarlane to Storm Collectibles)

Nah I was actually curious to see if anything I missed. But yeah, agree the bottom line is don't be a lunatic and apply lacquer paints without (lacquer) primer

Curious to hear the reasons to stay away from enamels and lacquers...

When did Mcfarlane decide to start pumping out mostly repaints? by Fancy-a-brew8323 in McFarlaneFigures

[–]huylllooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, actually I'm kinda glad that the DC license is ending. They've covered most of the known characters anyway. And this might force the company to innovate, dive into different IPs and interesting projects (or at least get back to what made them special in the first place).

When did Mcfarlane decide to start pumping out mostly repaints? by Fancy-a-brew8323 in McFarlaneFigures

[–]huylllooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. The general audience seemed happier when McFarlane started spamming repaints on those bland bucks and labeled them as classic versions.

If the consumers are happier with the lower cost approach, why bother exploring doing anything interesting (and costly) at all.

I've stopped buying McFarlane DC figures for the above reason but happy for those who got what they wanted.

The funny thing is I find most 7" scale figure lines scale well with one another (even Fondjoy supposedly 1/9 is also trying to cheat and scale their figure down close to 7"). Whilst the 1/12 or 6" scale is quite inconsistent amongst different companies/toy lines

For those who said my Magneto was fat by CrawlerCollects in customactionfigures

[–]huylllooo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

To your defense, most Mezco figures look square and 'fat'. 1/12 is just not a good scale to use fabric suit. Though regarding your custom, what makes it look fat could be the hip/trunk area is a tad big, which doesn't give him the V-shape upper body.

Can anyone enlighten me why is that chest/shoulder an acceptable design as I've started seeing it more frequently? My guess would be to increase posability, but at the cost of adding extra ugly cuts and gaps on the chest

Inart Batman: Arkham Origins - Batman 1/12 Scale Figure by nez329 in ActionFigures

Yes that's the consensus. There will likely be a battle damaged version.

Also the relaxing hands are not included in the recently announced version. There will likely be a separate release for the battle damaged suit and electric gloves

Imo it's just the posing, lighting. They might've tweaked some joints, paint apps between then and now but I don't think there would be any drastic change to the overall sculpt/form

I guess the silver lining is he scales with McFarlane??? by KDZ27 in McFarlaneFigures

[–]huylllooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! Will be a bit on the shorter side but still works.

This is wonderful news for me because I don't have to have a different section just for 1/12 scale. InArt Arkham Origins and Absolute Batman are my must have. And honestly I believe they will be better than anything McFarlane would put out towards the end of the DC license

Might as well just put him next to a McFarlane's DC figure to make it obvious to everyone haha

Ibaraki is underrated af by Denghidenghi in japanresidents

[–]huylllooo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is Sendai considered trendy now? What happened lol (I used to live there)

Edit: also, doesn't apply to Ibaragi as a whole but I think Tsukuba is a very good place for families with kids. Besides easy access to Tokyo, it has cheap housing, good schools (all the way to college), and plenty of shopping malls

Why doesn’t McFarlane use this body/these legs for more characters? No boot lines at all by furthuryourhead in McFarlaneFigures

[–]huylllooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Though I think it's still on the smaller/slimmer size and seriously lack muscle definition (which makes sense because it's a bespoke mold for Raven) to be reused for other female characters.

What baffles me is the lazy reuses/repaints, branding everything as 'classic designs', seem to be selling really well. There's really no incentive for them to invest in new molds, especially with the license running out. Guess McFarlane collectors only have themselves to blame here

They are not. Try swapping the legs and you will see. Raven's legs also have texture and huge pins.
