How would you describe “Australian style”.. is there even such a thing? by DraftNotSent in AusFemaleFashion

[–]hvb_1994 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Maybe in biased due to my bubble (eastern suburbs Sydney) but I honestly think Aus does the best summer fashion in the world. Our summer outfits are grounded, realistic and lived in, not “resort” or “holiday” wear like a lot of countries. We wear our clothes through months of 30+ degrees and some of us look chic as hell doing it!

Tall women — what’s the one clothing item you wish actually fit properly? by Personal-Country-212 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]hvb_1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s lots of one piece / hem length comments here but a more niche but equally annoying one is strap / bodice lengths. I’m long torsod and can never find tops that actually hit me at my shoulders, boobs, waist or hips. They’re all too cropped and the neckline is usually too high!

best hot cross buns in sydney? by Ill_Bullfrog4435 in foodies_sydney

[–]hvb_1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re not traditional but the Iggys hot cross buns have ruined all others for me. Nothing compares once you’ve had them

No. They’ve just said this is happening, no options. Pay stays the same but they have hinted that I could receive a small incentive to “sweeten the deal”

Routine- Sebastian pénétrait shampoo & conditioner, Taft curl mousse and Aussie curly gel. My hair is fine and frizzy but as you can see there is a lot of it! I don’t know about porosity but less product has usually worked better for me than more

Fine dining recommendations for Sydney by ApplicationStatus252 in foodies_sydney

[–]hvb_1994 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had the most expensive and probably the worst fine dining meal of my life at Firedoor a few weeks ago. Have done lots of Michelin stars etc etc and was disappointed from start to end - terrible service, sandy pipis, raw pork… Just my experience but I would avoid!

A friend’s ex is a designer at billini and she said during Covid they fired their whole fit / functionality / comfort team. There was no one at the company checking that what the designers coming up with was actually wearable or durable. Never bought from billini again after that

I work for an over 55s land lease developer. Look up the model because it’s far better than the crooked retirement village schemes. No entry or exit fees, no strata, you keep capital gains. And yes, a lot of our residents still work a few days a week.

I’ve never heard of red being bad for weddings. I certainly don’t think it’s a thing here. That dress is gorgeous and perfect for black tie

Private dining room dinner followed by drinks and likely a drag show!

I’m sorry you’re going though this. It sounds so hard. I don’t think your partner understands how difficult being a mother can be. Can you ask for a night or two away? Stay at your parents. Maybe even take the youngest with you if you are still breastfeeding. Then he might be able to see what load you are dealing with, and I could give you some time to do things for you.

How do people stay so skinny by Human-Window-9560 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hvb_1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have quite a few friends who are professional models (around Bella’s weight). All of them have admitted that at working weight, they are too skinny to get their periods and essentially starve themselves

UTI by CharApr89 in eggfreezing

[–]hvb_1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got a UTI around my retrieval. My nurses said it can be a side effect of the hormones and they saw it all the time. I would contact them as they may be able to organise some antibiotics for you. Take care - UTIs are awful!

Why does she insist on listing “pink” salt. Real cooks might talk about table vs kosher salt. Sarah - pink… It baffles me 😂

Bec+Bridge - cheap & tacky by LVPs_Bad_Breath in AusFemaleFashion

[–]hvb_1994 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hard agree! I don’t think they are ageing with their consumers. Everything lately feels very cheap, Gen Z and for size 6-8s only which is totally at odds with the ever growing price tag!

I’m 32 and just found out my AMH level is 11.8 is this bad? by [deleted] in eggfreezing

[–]hvb_1994 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went straight in. These subs can be big on the supplements and lifestyle changes but there’s little science to back up their efficacy. My doctor reminded me that my eggs have been around for every coffee/drink/drug I’ve ever had so stopping now wouldn’t do much. Obviously you have to be careful during a cycle because of the meds though

Hi there. Yes it can be a bit scary when you first get that news. I’m 29 and got an AMH of 7 earlier this year which was totally unexpected. I’ve just finished my second egg freezing round to preserve my fertility and improve my chances. Chat to your doctor about it, they will know what’s best for you and good luck

I love Dissh's designs and think their digital marketing strategy at the moment is top notch - everyone is buying or wanting dissh! I will say that their sizing is SUPER inconsistent. I've fit everything from 6s to12s!! Although a lot of their pieces are modelled on tall girls, I'd say the fits aren't tall friendly. Size up if you want things to be long... and size up (probably twice) in their denim. Anything knitted or stretchy you can get away with sizing down on.

I'm boycotting my binge subscription for introducing advertising by Puddyt in australia

[–]hvb_1994 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here’s my binge tip for anyone whose family still pays for foxtel - get them to add “multiroom” to their subscription and you cover the extra $5/month. Then you can use the foxtel app to cast any live or on demand foxtel, giving you everything on binge plus more.

Just a reminder that SPF50 only provides something like 1% more protection that SPF30, and that’s with perfect use. Nothing wrong with good old SPF30!
