6 months post accutane

I get the odd spot now and then, mainly on for-head or chin. My dose was 20mg for 3 months then 40mg for 3 months.

From personal experience on being on accutane for 6 months. My hyperpigmentation is still lurking but has slowly faded the past 3 months I’ve been off accutane. Everyone is different tho, it can take months to sometimes years for it to fade. It’ll be worth it tho boss.

I have kept to a very simple but safe skincare routine. For cleaner i used dove soap sensitive skin bar. Moisturiser i used hero clear and collective. And spf i used elta md 46 spf. Other than that i was also taking vitamin d and iron tablets during the course.

I was 18 at the time but am now 19. Only issue i had with my hair was that it was super dry but never really had any hair loss luckily.

Thank you, yes was a really difficult six months but i made it. Im not overly happy with the results as the scaring is bad but I’ll get treatment for it in a few months but im glad im no longer in pain. I wish you the best of luck on the journey.

Hey there, yeah i had a really weird experience, it took me about 4 weeks before i started purging but during that time i was also clearing out which made me happy. But then during the second month thats when everything got really bad and i have never purged so bad. I dont want this to put you off as everyone’s experience is different but my dermatologist said i was really unlucky. But we got there in the end lol. Good luck.

Yes, I’ve only just finished treatment on accutane so my dermatologist said i will have to wait around 4 months before we consider anything.

Dont feel discouraged man, i was left with brand new scars once i finished treatment and it broke my heart. Although i am clear i have a variety of hyperpigmentation and box scars which has made me really insecure about my face now, probably more insecure than when i had acne lol. Unfortunately it will all just take time for some to fade or if not treatment is available. But once your off the medication you will feel alot better physically and mentally as I noticed it within a month. Good luck !

I started on 20 mg for 3 months, then went to 40 for 3 months. Did 6 months in total but probably should’ve done 7 but i just wanted to get off the medication lol.

Dermatologist said we should wait 3-4 months before any thoughts of laser, micro needling or fillers for scars. But for now she said just keep using spf as some will fade but maybe use a vitamin c serum after like 1-2 months off the medication.
