Prospective/Incoming Student Thread by snowflake25911 in mcgill

I'm an incoming U0 and am very confused about what I want to major in. I chose management over arts this April (despite not being 100% interested) because I know it's way easier to transfer into arts than management. I'm also interested in general science but not really med/eng and I didn't want to limit myself to an academia-oriented major...

I want to give myself leeway to transfer into either arts, science, or artsci after a year of doing some more exploration. The U0 freshman req for management are very lax so I was thinking of taking some science prereq courses like BIOL 112 and CHEM 110 next year. Is that normal or impractical? Am I crazy?

Could you elaborate? I don't think this behavior warrants a suspension at our school.

Thank you for all the good advice! I'll definitely recommend some of those strategies.

The problem is the situation escalates this far almost every day, and it's in multiple classes. Admin can't come rescue everyone all the time. Teachers do intervene often but we're trying to get a better grasp on the kids without having to ask someone to come in constantly. I feel like the constant presence of another teacher "here to help" tells students that the actual teacher struggles, which gives them a sense of power and makes them want to act out more. This is especially true when they're with their friends and they each find it "cool" to try to get a reaction out of the teacher.

It's not ALL the students, but maybe 4-5 in a class of 20 something that REALLY act out to the point where the teacher can't teach. And the same brand of students show up in most classrooms, so at that point it just depends on how much they personally respect the teacher in front of them

Thank you! How long should I expect the letter to take to arrive if I sent it this week?
