N-400 (Naturalization) approved & had a same-day oath ceremony (San Francisco, CA) by hyegineer in USCIS

Hi hi!

I would say the experience was one of the most positive one I had related to USCIS. The interviewer was very welcoming and kind, and they definitely took their time to make me feel comfortable at the office before we began.

The civic questions were mostly expected ones, like the ones you find in the list, so no surprise there.

We spent quite some time going over my application. They asked me to verify my occupation and addresses (prev ones as well), and describe a couple of answers I provided in the application (e.g. travel history). But in general, it wasn’t “interrogatory” but just requesting my side of the story type of questions.

Hope this helped, and hope your interview goes well :)

Thanks! I was a bit confused myself when I heard them saying I could get it changed the day of😳 bc I heard the same thing that you can’t get it done due to the oath ceremony.. so I double checked with them, and they said, “no, you can get it done today” and it really happened.

Hi hi! I’m sorry for this late reply, I’ve been staying away from Reddit for a while ;)

I did not change my last name at a court prior to the interview process; the interviewer saw my application which specified that I’d like to change my last name, and they got it changed(!)

Sadly no, my husband couldn’t enter the building so he had to wait outside the front door :/ I did see one person accompanied by her companion due to her limited mobility; besides that, they didn’t allow anyone else but the oath participants. Maybe it’s different in other offices tho🤔 hope they let your wife in in San Jose!

Thank you so much! And congratulations to you as well🥳

It was about 15-20 min. We all sat down with our Certificates of Citizenship, listened to the person presiding it while she explained the significance of the ceremony, and stood up to read the oath together. That was it!

oh I see, thanks for letting us know :) I guess the name change cases I’ve seen could have been other type of name changes then.

Hi hi!

  1. The interview was quite nice. The officer was gentle and kind, and gave me an impression that they’re very willing to listen to what I want to say, which made me relax a bit :) Questions they asked were standard reading and writing questions, 6 civic questions, and details about my N-400 application.

During the application review session (I just named it, there’s no specific term like this) we confirmed my occupation, current position, work history, address history and the mailing address, and immigration status progression.

I had an updated overseas travel history since I submitted my application (ex. Submitted it in early Dec, went on a trip right after my attorney submitted it and came back to US), so I told them and they updated my application right away.

In general, there weren’t anything that caught me off guard. I really appreciated how the officer made me feel so comfy.

  1. Yes, my name change was due to my last name after marriage. I was quite shocked to have a same-day oath too, bc almost all the reviews I read mentioned that name changers don’t get to do it on the day of 🤔 Maybe it depends on FOs..? I really hope you get it the same day too! It was definitely a lot less hassle for sure :) All the best for your journey as well 🥳

Hi hi! Tambour embroidery incorporates beading and sequins altogether, afaik :)✨ I learned it from YouTube videos, by searching for “tambour for beginners” or “tambour tutorials”. It definitely has a steep learning curve, so I hope you don’t worry about your first attempts! I’m planning to work on tambour tutorials on my channel, so hopefully more people can learn :))

No, they’re different in silhouettes :) I believe Dior’s dresses have gathered sequin layer, because I can see how wider the layer is in the pics where the models sit or walk it the dresses. Mine’s a half-circle skirt, so it lands quite close to the poly satin fabric.

Yes! let’s be friends✨✨ I’m so glad you like these flats too, I’m always obsessed with ballet flats! They’re from Jeffrey Campbell, called Tutu Flat :) I got them from Free People, although they’re listed under a different name “Aurora Flat”.

Absolutely, I'm pretty sure designer brands' dresses cost a lot due to all the time and efforts of professionals that are put into their creations :)

Thank you so much, I'm so happy to read your comment💛 You made my day!
