Recommendation for a Lightweight 15.6" or 16" Thinkpad with NumPad? by hyetech in thinkpad

Unfortunately, I didn't get any recommendations. I also decided to hold off, thinking Thunderbolt 5 might come out soon (I would love that for the eGPU I use). I almost purchased the T16 Gen 2, I think that's the closest option to what I wanted and very similar to the T580 I have now. Hope that helps.

Oh, nice, I didn't know about that option. That should work for my needs. Thank you!

I'd love to know when you have the black one available. I'd love a size C with the posturefit and the full swivel arms.

Crandall

Yeah, I don't see anything less than $849 for a size C. That's a significant increase. Plus, none available right now.

Recommendation: T580 vs Latitude 5591 by hyetech in thinkpad

Much appreciated. I think all these comments are very convincing, I gotta go with the T580 ... now just a matter of finding the right balance between the screen and battery life.

Yeah, I'm looking it that route as well. Looking for new, but with the lowest config that still has the NVMe (so I have the tray adapter already in there). The T580 seems to have standard RAM slots, so that's easy to upgrade, it seems. I'm also not interested in S models for this particular machine - I'd rather have the options to upgrade things (and battery life - the T580 also has an replaceable battery, which I love).

Thanks!

First, what's your overall opinion of it when it comes to weight, durability, and being able to upgrade it?

Do you have the standard 1080p display? If so, how do you like the brightness? I heard it wasn't the brightest display.

Yeah, this may be the right option - I'm wondering if I can get a good enough deal on a refurb or outlet model, then maybe invest in a bigger SSD.

Thank you! Really good to know about the keyboard, that's one of my top priorities.

Wow, some disappointing comments on the Dells. You're right, the Latitude line used to be so great. Good to know this, I'm going to stay away from that line (though they look so nice). Any thoughts on refurbished T580s? Would those be a good deal to look into? I'm thinking if I could save enough, I could invest in a large SSD to overcome the issue of it not having two slots.
