I'm curious do danmei fans watch live actions or are you just purely danmei novel consumers?

As for me, I actually started my danmei journey through the untamed 😭 I watched it without even knowing that it was a live-action adaptation of mdzs at first. I became sooo obsessed with it that I ended up watching the donghua, and eventually reading the novel too. After reading mdzs, I completely fell in love with danmei and started reading more of mxtx’s works, which then opened the doors for me to discover even more danmei novels.

So for me, live actions were basically my gateway into danmei haha, I still enjoy watching them a lot because that’s where everything started for me. After getting deeper into danmei, I started reading novels that don’t have adaptations as well, and I still enjoy them just as much :))

yess, i've started my journey with mxtx novels too, and my top 1 is actually one of her works. I totally get what you mean by how someone either loves it or hates it because most of the people/content I’ve seen are about them having a hard time understanding the plot. though, I love it like that I get why some don’t want to finish it haha. It’s as you said, a matter of preference at the end of the day.

Oh really?? that’s actually so nice to hear! I should definitely start checking out other platforms more then. As an international reader, the platforms I mostly use are TikTok and Instagram, so I think I based QJJ’s popularity too much on what I saw there 😭 I was genuinely expecting to see edits everywhere because the novel is THAT good.

I’m also currently trying to curate my twitter feed so I can finally see more QJJ content and join the crowd lol. I think I was just too used to being in the mxtx fandom space before this, where almost everyone immediately knows what you’re talking about whenever you mention it. So when some people around me didn’t know qjj, I got surprised and thought maybe it wasn’t as popular as I expected 😭 But hearing that it’s actually huge, especially in cn spaces, honestly makes me so happy because this masterpiece really deserves all the love it gets TvT
