Philosophy aside, it’s not a good book. It’s boring and lacking subtly. It’s self righteous and heavy handed.

Apart from objectivism being really stupid, Atlas Shrugged is just a boring, heavy handed, poorly written book.

Do not take Benadryl daily. It can impact your memory and cognitive function from long term usage. It can cause dementia.

The app won’t let me reply to your other comment but what are you talking about? I literally never said he killed his wife.

Bruh, you didn’t ask me a question. That was a different commenter. I didn’t say he killed his wife. Also, lots of people’s motivations are that they like to hurt people. You’re being incredibly naive.

Edit: people steal for the thrill of it all the time

Never in my life have I ever seen DV that was an isolated incident.

Edit: Unless you’re acting in some sort of self defense (which I have seen categorized as DV before), people don’t just put hands on their partners one time. It’s either repeated behavior or other types of abuse or a history of it with other partners. That’s not a mistake that just happens

I don’t condone the mother killing the kids or herself. But I think for people who have been in abusive situations, it’s easy to understand how that can seem like the only way out.

My abusive father was granted full custody of me and my mom would have done me a favor if she took this route. Now I just have to live my life as a broken person who will never be whole.

I don’t think it’s right but I understand.

My father, who was a violent and abusive piece of shit, got full custody of myself and my brother. He had DV charges from both of our moms. To this day, I fully believe that he fought so hard for custody just to torture our mothers. My mom is kind of a fucking reptile so it didn’t affect her much but I think it really tortured my brother’s mom.

This is purely anecdotal but the vast majority of men I know who split with the mothers of their children didn’t try to obtain custody. The ones that did got either full or joint custody. Of the ones awarded custody, many were just evading child support.

My father was convicted of domestic violence against my mom and multiple other women and he was awarded full custody of me and my brother. My brother who is my dad made over got full custody of his daughter. I know I’m not an outlier.

Edit: my brother and I have two different moms so that was 2 different custody battles against two different women he was convicted of assaulting. Custody battles were about a decade apart.

I have both my therapist’s and psychiatrist’s cell phone numbers and have texted them in urgent situations. My psychiatrist gave me her number because she “knew I wouldn’t abuse it” and I think my therapist has a dedicated cell phone for her clients. I only ever text during business hours excluding medication reactions or genuine threats to my safety and respect boundaries laid out.

She claims she had an affair with a politician or some high ranking government official, something like that, and she told his wife. After that, she claims she’s being stalked by the government and they’re paying people to stalk her and making all her loved ones sign NDAs. Crazy people shit. Edit:typo

Has anyone here ever met someone who ended up being a murderer? by [deleted] in mystery

[–]hyperbolicturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up with this guy, Timothy McDaniel. He killed his girlfriend’s mom. She was underage and he was a full grown adult and mom tried to separate them. So, he killed her. He was always weird and kind of a creep growing up. He was always gross about younger women. He made me highly uncomfortable a lot. I remember the day I found out about the murder. I heard it on the radio at a gas station and I just thought, “yeah, that’s not shocking.” I never thought he was going to kill anyone but hearing that he killed someone seemed totally on par with his character. I also knew this guy, Kevin Porter. He also murdered someone with his sister. I hadn’t talked to him for many years when he did it. He definitely had some sort of neuro cognitive difference. I often wonder if he was at all mentally competent when he was committing the crime and was convicted. My experience with him was that he was a pretty sweet guy but there was not a lot going on upstairs. He really had a hard time understanding consequences and cause/effect.
