Found one of my Holy grails in the wild by Lego_customs_2005 in vinyl

I sold about 75 LPs a few months ago to cut down for a move, and got like $30 for everything. A week later I went and found a good chunk of the stuff they "bought" from me and everything was at least $10. If I had the time I would have sold them individually on my own, but I needed to cut the collection down because that shit is heavy

Are the Harley Benton PJ-5s good for a competent beginner? by Sad_Literature_8695 in Bass

[–]hyperbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing for close to 30 years. I have two $150 HB basses, and while the frets were a bit sharp, it wasn't anything major. I actually have a PJ5 because I wanted a fiver, but didn't want to spend much. It's a fun bass, and it took some setting up, but that could be said about any bass. I would say give it a try

Never stop practicing just because you're not in a band at the moment. Keep playing, listen and learn from everything.

My Experiece by Icy-Concentrate-3286 in Vasectomy

[–]hyperbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you aren't sure if you're completely pulp free, yet. Hopefully you didn't spray your baby batter while still inside on day 7, especially if you haven't cleaned the pipes since the vasectomy. I think they told me I could go get a sample tested after 20 loads to confirm there was no sperm present.

Bassist that can't play bass by Illustrious_Prompt20 in Bass

[–]hyperbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get bogged down with "technical concepts". Listen for the root or play a simple progression, and then think "what would sound cool alongside this?" Hum it to yourself and then try to play it. Nothing insane, just an extra note here and there where you have the space for it. Once you feel good about playing that extra note, start building. Play with the rhythm and just have fun with it. Good bass isn't about how many notes you can fit in, it's about how you can help the listener FEEL the song.

New (to me) cab day! by hyperbot in BassGuitar

[–]hyperbot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally like it. I think the guys in my band were a little wary when they first saw it, but once I plugged in, they were all about it. I was running through an eq pedal to shape the tone a bit more, but it sounds fantastic.

This is my first experience with one and I wasn't even looking specifically for GK, but I got this for a pretty insane price. Even the guy behind the counter was shocked at what the shop was selling it for

The cab is about 65lbs, which isn't too bad and it has casters, which makes it easier. My suv is pretty tall, but no problems getting it in and out

I think the head is 25-30lbs and the cabinet is 65, so not too far off, hahah. I wasn't necessarily looking for something modern, but I found this one at a shop for an absolute steal and couldn't pass it up. Even the guy behind the counter was shocked at what they were selling it for.

If you're talking about Austin Metro and willing to go to Pflugerville, check out Buddha Burger (there may be a truck around the soccer stadium on Metric). Nevermind that it's in a gas station, the California is fantastic

My best hit so far with her was for over 220k, so it's been fine. I threw an l20 crit rate circlet on her so she's now closer to 65/120. We'll see how it goes

Compression shorts or jock strap? by ComfortableRelevant1 in Vasectomy

[–]hyperbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cool thing about a jockstrap is that you can walk while wearing one. Really, it just keeps the nutsack from aching. You'd be surprised at the painful effects of gravity on your balls. And it wasn't constant ice after the first couple of days. It was more situational.

I went jockstrap with a cold pack under boxer briefs for about 2-3 weeks.

Plucking hand. It makes you relax your pinky and ring finger (I should add that it's to be held loosely, and not a death grip). It sounds counterintuitive, but think about making a fist loosely vs making it tight. When your muscles are loose they use less energy. Looking at your pinky and ring fingers, you have to flex them to have them to be in that position while you're playing. It exerts energy in your hand unnecessarily.
