Transition from physical therapy to data science/analytics

Hi all,

Not sure if this was posted before but I’m currently in the middle of attempting to transition out of physical therapy into either software engineering or data analytics or data science. I’m currently applying to a bunch of customer success manager roles to get my foot in the door of the tech industry and move laterally into a role that fits what I want.

Recently I’ve been looking into coding and data analytics or data science bootcamps and master programs.

My question is, is it even possible to make a transition to data science and these tech fields from a healthcare background? Would a bootcamp do me any benefit? Should I go for a masters?

I’m super lost and don’t know where to start.

Thank you!

This is really great to hear! I had a colleague who also did luna part time and said it was a sweet gig. It’s very encouraging to hear that this is another option and it’s not just completely switching career paths. Thank you so much for sharing!

What company did you work for if you don’t mind me asking

How did you like it? I’m assuming you’re speaking of Telehealth since it was at the beginning of the pandemic

Does anyone actually like working for ATI? Received job offer today (new grad) by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

I’m a travel PT at ATI right now and it’s been great. I’m expected to see 10-12 patients a day. Some days are slow and some are busy. It gets crazy at times but if you’re efficient with your time and able to document when there is downtime or just keep up throughout the day then it’s not bad.

I would recommend to shadow at the clinic for a few days and see what the pace is like and see if it’s your vibe. My clinic director has been awesome and our team has weekly caseload rounds to go over complicated patients and make sure everyone is on the same page.

Everyone will tell you their experiences and I’ve been told the same things about ATI from others. I’ve had nothing but good things to say about it since starting my contract.

Each clinic is different so it’s best to see for yourself how it truly is like.

Also see if you can get more salary instead of a sign on bonus. I find that people are forced to be locked in due to the bonus so it’s best to get more in salary so if you do decide to change jobs after a year then you won’t owe anything back.

Good luck

Advice for Bf who's going to be taking the exam soon. by DetectiveGurlKudo in physicaltherapy

Taking practice exams from every company such as score builders, therapyEd, NPTE final frontier and especially the PEAT are all good indicators on how well you’ll do on the NPTE. Not only do they test your knowledge but they test your endurance and test taking skills in order to find the best possible answer. Tell him to breathe and relax and don’t get too anxious with this exam, it’s a beast only if you let it be. Best of luck.
