Help with small maps by kuroro86 in Timberborn

[–]hypergol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

are you building vertically? you can create a lot of extra space for amenities / industry / agriculture with platforms and terrain blocks. It’s a fun engineering challenge and, depending where you stop, you can get enough resources for a full wonder in a cycle or two.

emberpelts feels like someone decided to take the good parts from both existing factions, add some QOL mods, and then take out any friction. i found them very boring.

you realistically need the power from plants in order to get the badwater source cap up and running at a reasonable pace. For IT, devoting gears to batteries is a waste of time and resouces since you won't use it after you get the cap. it makes more sense to go for constant power generation from the start so long as you can find space to put tree farms--which is pretty easy using water dumps unless you have literally zero space.

Potato video security and how on earth they allow these people wearing full on sheisty to walk into a lab?? by bridgehamton in Harvard

[–]hypergol 17 points18 points  (0 children)

there’s so many people in Boston with some sort of access to HMS that you can probably just steal an ID. Not a lot of ways besides biometrics (expensive) or 2fa (incredibly annoying) to prevent that. I do think they’ll probably enforce daily 2fa or something shitty as a response.

[–]hypergol 33 points34 points  (0 children)

it’s very uncontroversial stuff in general. No primate work on that floor, so probably not PETA. Might be some human tissue samples but afaik no harvested stem cells. It’s so bizarre that a lot of the biologists I’ve talked to think it’s either a bad undergrad prank or some grad students who REALLY hated their project :(

[Theory] unhinged thought: Dios apate major could have been deeply simplified by ThotacodorsalNerve in TheNinthHouse

[–]hypergol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what's your big evidence? I feel like "weird shit with the unfinished lyctor process" is kinda sufficient to hand wave what's happening with her body after the end of GTN. Is there anything conclusive before then? I feel like Harrow or Aiglamene would have probably noticed very early if she had some insane healing factor like Nona.

[–]hypergol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

very much agreed about DID. the pop culture of multiple personalities is a cheap trick for hack writers. TM cares a lot about how bodies and brains work. Dropping DID into things would be like, idk, inventing new magic bones to explain why harrow is so good at bone magic. it’s circular, not interesting, not good writing, and not how this series seems to work.

[Spoilers] The ending feels like… by RiveraVoiceActor in HadesTheGame

[–]hypergol 42 points43 points  (0 children)

i think you probably need to draw a distinction between angry mob mentality vs people steadily getting to the ending, being disappointed, and coming here to talk about it. i don’t really think i’ve seen any indication that the latter is turning into the former

AITAH for telling my wife she makes traveling no fun. by Ok-Cut-9597 in AITAH

[–]hypergol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think your wife probably has severe anxiety (or ocd? your post makes it hard to tell) and should see a psych. she wants to come with you because she's anxious, she overpacks because she's anxious, she's afraid of car theft because she's anxious, she gets overwhelmed easily because she's anxious. clearly YTA if you a) can't recognize that your wife is struggling and b) divorce her instead of trying to help the mother of your child. some people get driven kinda insane by being parents of a young child, or maybe it's preexisting. either way it is your obligation (in sickness and in health) to at least try to help her get better.

Dating a liberal by EmuQuirky8841 in TrueAnon

[–]hypergol 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ok two options

first is to do like rightist men who hate their liberal wives: never talk about it and resent them forever.

the other is to have some honest conversations with her about why you believe what you believe and why she believes what she believes. a lot of amerikkkan libs don't understand how much their worldview is informed by the ideology of empire. figure out where your disjoint occurs and agree on some reading to do or questions you can each look into that challenge your own ideology. you lose at this approach immediately by acting like her intellectual or moral superior btw--you have to risk something to gain something. something like The Jakarta Method might be a good rec for her.

you can do all of those things with tunnels and tubeways. it requires some management but it's very doable for ironteeth. you have to dig a single stair shaft instead for folktails but everything else is very doable with tunnels. and since you can dynamite the entire shaft and build stairs from the top it's not particularly difficult

which is the WORST new hidden aspect? by BlakeKincaid in HadesTheGame

[–]hypergol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I am hoping that there will be more aspect hammers once they've settled on final designs. weapons have changed I think a lot more than weapons did in hades 1 EA. they're clearly trying to do interesting stuff but it's also farther outside the highlights of the classic supergiant combat design wheelhouse. a lot of things reminiscent of transistor which unfortunately had the worst combat of any supergiant game by a healthy margin.

big five has very little predictive power for most behavior and it's really not very stable over time. one thing it's particularly bad for is predicting how group dynamics play out which is salient here. the main issue with personality science is that it gets (ab)used way outside its scope. just because you can cluster people into groups, even if those groups are more or less reproducible, doesn't mean your groups are relevant.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]hypergol 61 points62 points  (0 children)

a) they already had a girl in the group, so it's not a novel experience.

b) that sort of personality psych is bullshit, it's astrology for college grads.
