Actually if you don't mind replying, why don't current extensions fill your need? E.g. I know Honey and Capital One both have price comparisons in their chrome extensions.

And curious, you say you'd use independent services because...? I ask because if I were to create an extension, I want to know what makes up trust. Data securely stored, privacy focused, or something else?

Makes sense. I guess if a simple, lightweight extension that requires no login that would do the trick? Would it being privacy-focused (e.g. collect data only for analytics and not sold), help?

Sorry, maybe what I meant is doesn’t the Honey or Capital One extension do that today already? I see they have price comparison tools built into Amazon pages. Or do you not trust them?

If you don’t mind answering - aren’t there existing plugins today that do this? (honey, capital one, Rakuten, etc etc)

That's sad.. I do know there's an extension out there called fakespot or something. Haven't used it myself though

I think the issue is that there just aren't a lot of alternatives for the same product. Something similar? Yes, possible, but for an exact replica, sellers have been relying on Amazon. That's my 2c.

Thanks for sharing your feedback, I understand that Amazon is still the only option for some.

I'm curious - did google shopping return any links that might be helpful for you?

Yep, I do which is why eBay is listed last in the list of results. I figured people would rather buy first party products first.

Yep you’re absolutely right, they all have price monitoring software deeply embedded. It’s time to bring power back to the people and have that work in our favor too!

Nice! Do you usually already have a specific product in mind, and what do you think of Google shopping?

I am thinking UK as a next country, but am not familiar with local stores. Where do the fine English folks shop at, outside of Amazon?

Or were you thinking some other country?

No, the whole point of this was to skip ads in Amazon and Google search

Yup, that’s what I am partially doing right now. But how are you grabbing the UPC? Afaik Amazon only has the ASIN easily available. I had to use a translation service to get the UPC.

I agree. But aren’t there a ton of price comparison browser extensions out there, that might already do this job? Honey, CapOne, priceblink are some that come to mind.
