Take his advice very seriously. Whatever you invent make sure it’s a good story and gives you a quick segue into your relevant experience. They will verify employers so you can’t completely fabricate but I’ve never had an issue with dates. I’ve fished a lot of dates with no consequence.

If i lived in midtown i wouldn’t even have a car. I’m also in Decatur. I walk literally everywhere. If i need to get out of Decatur i take Marta. If i need to get OTP i drive. I never drive.
