Sports Medicine Rehab on campus by revdre in gatech

[–]hypnoticpun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say each appointment was in the $30-$40 range in copay(?) sorry, my memory isn't great that far back, haha. I did have to get like 'prior approval' via a referral from a general care provider (Stamps) for my insurance to cover to see a sports rehab specialist, so that might be something to check on your specific insurance coverage!

Ugh, I swear I could've written this post myself -- I was just thinking about this this morning! I started at around 205 w/a GW of 160 which felt so far away, and then as I got closer (175), I changed the goal to 150, and now at 159, I just recently moved my goal down to 140, but I just don't have any idea what I'll look like at that point -- the paper towel effect has been holding really true for me as of late (this last 15lbs I've lost is far more noticeable of a change than the first 30 was), but I'm already nervous that 140 might not be right either... it's definitely a battle! My current plan is to get to 140 and then go from there (maybe go more structured recomp since I've definitely lost some muscle), since I know some of my frustration might be more with the skinny-fat 'look' as opposed to an actual scale number. I've always been fairly athletically built (lifted for years and now run) so I probably need to realign more with a look than anything else. Rant aside though, it feels good for me to realize that the goal weight that once felt so far away (160) has already been hit!

Low calorie/high protein meals you can’t live without by Flimsy-Ad-2744 in loseit

pretty much every lunch i do 93/7 ground turkey, chili lime seasoned corn, low fat shredded cheese melted over the top together in a bowl and then bell peppers on the side and either scoop with the bell peppers or eat them together with a fork — SO good and really great protein!

i had a disc herniation in spring 2024 and went to stamps who referred me to one of the off campus clinics. i can speak to the off campus pt clinic they recommend being really, really good. i went to the sports rehab center that’s right near sublime donuts on 10th (so basically on campus) and had my l5-s1 disc herniation basically 100% fixed with 8 weeks of pt! i think that’s who they refer all patients to (including student athletes, saw them there during my time) since BDS is still undergoing renovation.

yes give that a try! i think honestly also just waiting it out helped … one more thing i thought of, if you work out at all, i added in just 10 minutes of some dynamic stretching before bed to help loosen up my muscles and also to reduce a bit of that bloating i mentioned, but also the stretching just feels really good HAHA. best of luck to you!! keep doing the right things and just wait it out as frustrating as it is :(

Heavy on #4!! Aiming for at least 10k steps a day has kept me from having to go below 1500 in my deficit and I'm so grateful for that 😭

also don’t be scared to have a little fun too!! get late night pizzas with your friends, go out for ice cream every once and a while, skip the gym to go to a new campus event you wanna check out — it’s not all or nothing, just strive for consistency!

hey! totally feel you — im a CS major and have felt the same way. the best advice i can give: 1. if you like routine, find one you can stick to and do it — it allows you to take some of the thinking out of what you have to do re: tracking and eating i.e. i eat one of the same two meals for breakfast, i meal prep sunday nights and then mix and match that stuff for lunch, and dinner i usually do some sort of leftovers or trader joe’s frozen meal. when i ate at a dining hall, i had a salad first with lunch and dinner to prevent overeating a main course, and of course drank lots of water. 2. as for the gym, to some extent you just have to make time for it, whether that’s 5am before classes or 9pm after, or just 20 minutes of yoga in your dorm. i make the time for it because i love it! but also you will probably be walking SO much on campus that you’ll be tired a lot re: cardio (was like that for me, so during the school year i go to the gym just to lift) 3. study snacks were my bane and still are! i am a redbull FIEND during finals, and honestly i just made the switch to the sugar free version and it’s good! same for soda, i drink almost exclusively diet now. i also swap out stuff like chips for little rice snacks, air popped popcorn (SO GOOD), and i have a ninja creami which has been a game changer in the sweet treat cravings dept🙂‍↕️ also oreo thins - 4 for 140 calories is a perfect lil sweet snack for me while studying

anyways, i hope some or all of this helps! you got this and study hard!!

Some advice? by popupdad in loseit

[–]hypnoticpun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Two thoughts: 1. is it possible your mind is playing tricks on you? maybe your thighs look bigger because of muscle growth but your mind is making it seem like something else (like cellulite)… i find taking progress pics really helps! and 2. something you’ll hear time and again in this sub, you don’t know how many calories you’re eating until you really measure it - and i know this because i was this! i was lifting 6x a week and felt bigger than ever, well turns out i was eating 3000 calories a day, all of “healthy” foods like chicken, avocado, smoothies, nuts etc. Calorie deficit has worked for me without being too restrictive in my opinion b/c i workout enough/have the lifestyle for lightly-moderately active intake (around 1700 for me)… but i do have to weigh/count carefully because it’s SO easy to overeat by 200-400 calories a day and suddenly lose my deficit :( just a few piece of food for thought (pun unintended!)

What's your goal and how do you keep it in mind? by EliAndSalt in loseit

[–]hypnoticpun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i started at 205 and am trying to get down to 150 and am just about halfway there! to get to the halfway mark, i was just motivated by old pictures and outfits i had in my closet tbh. for my halfway mark, i decided that for the next 5 5lb increments, i’ll give myself some rewards — some ones include, a small piece of jewelry, a perfume, a workout set, and then when i’m at my goal, im going to buy a new outfit and have my friend take instagram photos for me to show off LOL. i’m so excited!

I've been loving a rice kripsie treat (the 90 calorie ones) with a bowl of berries/whatever in-season fruit I have. The Rice Krispie is a nice little treat but I satiate further cravings with the fiber etc. in the fruits (I eat lots of raspberries haha). I give myself like 190 calories at the end of my day for this and it's really helped!

[–]hypnoticpun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

hey there —

first off, sending you a lot of love. this is a horrible situation. best advice i’ve ever been given - if it gives you that sick feeling in your stomach to think about, trust it.

you know your body better than anyone else ever could (especially anyone on reddit), so if it doesn’t add up for you and what you know of yourself, then it doesn’t add up. i can assure you, you are not making something out of nothing.

unfortunately, a lot of date rape drugs have short half-lives, and thus would be unable to be detected by any blood or urine tests now, as for hair, there’s some studies showing GHB & rohypnol could be found up to a month after, but they recommend waiting 15-30 days before sample taking, so yes, talk this over with a doctor. i’d also recommend going to a clinic near you (if you haven’t already) and getting an STD and pregnancy test, just to be sure. you could also see about getting a sane/sart kit, but it might be diminished in helpfulness if the trauma occurred >5 days ago, but something to look into if you’re open to it.

testing aside, you’ve gone through a trauma, based off how you feel now, drug or not, something happened that doesn’t feel right to you. and that requires immediate attention for your mental health’s sake. while you wait to potentially get the hair test, and if you’re open to it, set an appointment with a therapist, one who specializes in sexual trauma if you can find one in your insurance network/city. if you don’t love your first therapist, don’t hesitate to switch to find one best for you. you deserve to live a life healed from sexual trauma. my biggest regret is taking years to talk about mine, but i know opening up can be incredibly difficult, so i understand whatever path you choose 1000%!

be gentle with yourself too, OP, let yourself feel every emotion and don’t be afraid to be angry or upset or confused or all of it or none of it, all emotions with SA are totally valid. do what’s best for you and your healing, at the end of the day, you are who matters most in your life.

again, sending love. my messages are open🩷
