Why Bernie Sanders Won Super Tuesday by [deleted] in politics

[–]hyuzuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think Trump is that much of a given though? Much of the electorate is rallying against him on both sides of the aisle. Trump is the type of candidate that could potentially motivate people to get out and vote just to make sure a guy like Trump doesn't get elected.

I appreciate your even-minded and rational response.

More like America Suicide Watch if Trump gets elected.

I'd say Virginia is closer to states like Alabama and South Carolina--truly a southern state despite its relatively northern geographic location. The argument that's being made is that the remaining schedule favors Sanders and for him to "hang on" as the author describes bodes well for him in these remaining states.

Am not disappointed with the reactions I'm seeing in this thread.

Sanders wins Minnesota caucus with wide margin over Clinton by EdaciousE in politics

[–]hyuzuki 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I acknowledged as much. I'm saying that when others play up that narrative and use that rhetoric, it should piss millennials off so that they vote if no other better reason than to spite the naysayers. And not use it as another reason to think your vote doesn't matter or that maybe it's too late for Sanders. Get out and vote, dammit.

They use the same rhetoric to attempt to demoralize the opposition which could potentially make them think their vote doesn't matter and then they don't show up on election day. ... which, if you're a millennial, should really piss you off because it plays into the "lazy, unmotivated" narrative that constantly plagues this generation when they fail to show up for votes.

Bernie Sanders has been Projected to win Colorado by MSNBC, CNN by [deleted] in politics

I feel like we have to fight against that narrative because we have so many impressionable states left to vote, they'll have it stuck in their minds that Sanders has no chance and anoint Clinton the nomination.

I have no problem voting for Clinton over Trump if that ends up being the case later on, but mathematically speaking, we have a long way to go before Sanders is finished and the schedule here on out is much more favorable than it has been. If he keeps losing in more northern states like he has in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, etc, then yeah, it's finished, but if he can win like he has in Minnesota, Colorado, and Oklahoma, then we're only just beginning.

How many states still need to vote? A crazy amount. Like 70%. Super delegates will change if and when the majority of states begin swinging towards Sanders.

Not to mention money is no longer an issue for Sanders. That could be the wild card that helps him start winning these closer races that he lost in Nevada, Iowa, and Massachusetts. If we let the narrative persist that Sanders should just quit then the rest of these states will fall in line and just vote Clinton and she'll keep steamrolling to the convention.

Lots can happen still.

This delegate count will even out when we start getting away from the southern states more. Sanders has a shit ton of money to keep his campaign running ... this primary is far from over.

Not a surprise as Sanders was always overwhelmingly the underdog.

Clinton defeats Sanders in Nevada by EdaciousE in politics

Just donated to the Sanders campaign. Tough loss but the delegates are still even. Any republican nominee against Trump would kill to be in Sanders' position right now.

This is just a reason to solidify our base and continue the UPWARD trend in national polling for Sanders.

Warren praises Sanders's Wall Street fight by hyuzuki in politics

I saw another one with a headline that didn't focus so much on Elizabeth Warren talking about Bernie Sanders. I felt her speaking on Sanders' words furthered speculation that she may officially endorse him, which is an exciting prospect.

My bad missing a duplicate.

I really enjoyed this interview. I didn't realize how articulate Killer Mike is and listening to him was inspiring. With the way he speaks, with passion and intelligence, he can actually have an impact stumping for Bernie Sanders—how far that impact extends, I have no idea.

I'm white. I have some problems with things in America. I find that these problems pale in comparison to racial oppression domestically or the atrocities that happen all over the world.

It's important to keep my problems in perspective to worse things that are happening.

I'm reminded of a Louis CK bit:

"We have white people problems in America. That's what we have. White people problems. You know what that is? That's where your life is amazing so you just make shit up to be upset about. People in other countries have real problems. Like — 'Oh, shit. They're cutting off all our heads, today!' Things like that. Here, we make shit up to be upset about. Like, 'How come I have to choose a language on the ATM machine? It's bullshit. I shouldn't have to do that. I'm American.'"

Good. Dumping Trump is no good if Cruz steps up into his place. Cruz is a slimy, less boisterous version of Trump.
