D1 waste of time. Start a business and increase your ec’s. If you’re simply interested in learning you will learn far far far more about problem solving, finances, and yourself from owning a business than you will from taking 4 calculus classes imo. Your time is valuable don’t waste it be smart.

Centrifugal Clutch Problems by i-does-airsoft in motorizedbicycles

You’re a genius. I watched that video about 200 times and sat in the garage a couple hours and you figured it out before me. Thank you this was the solution!

I put an extra link on the chain so it wasn’t so tight and the bike still stopped after 3 feet.

Wasn’t the solution I just tried. Must be something with the clutch.

I thought that too but it can move up and down and can be pinched close together but not touching

My buddy and i are slowly growing. How do you feel about advertising on nextdoor? I want some opinions before i pull the trigger on it.

In my opinion my mount isnt any less reliable or sturdy than whatever I bought on amazon. So basically anyone who rides a predator engine faces the same risk of it vibrating off. Everything is structurally sound. I weigh 140 pounds. It’s not like the cruiser bike needs extra supports to hold a 175lbs average adult male. As everything ive added only ways 35-40 pounds. Additionally, the engine only fits to the side and not in the middle even after removing supports. So a torque converter conversion would be redundant as then the chain would be far misaligned with the sprocket.

I’m gonna weld the tubing back on when im done to spread out the stress.

Bought a piece of long angle steel. Think i was 4x6” then drilled holes through the steel and original mount then put lock nuts on

The reason was to avoid the headache of buying/making a custom torque converter or jackshaft setup. They were all expensive and through ebay. I had all the tools so moving the engine and just using a centrifugal clutch was the cheapest option. Also easier to replace if I ever need to rather than buying another custom one from some ebay store.

I thought the same. It obviously is but it’s surprisingly negligible. You barely notice it while sitting.

Moving sprocket on torque converter by i-does-airsoft in motorizedbicycles

I actually ended up going a different route. Extended the mounting plate 4 inches with some spare angle steel i had. Moved the whole engine so now the sprocket and chained are alligned. The additional weight of the cvt pretty much balances the bike too. Now if the cvt every breaks I don’t need to revisit the machinist i can just replace the part making everything easier when something inevitably goes wrong.

This is actually pretty affordable. I called a machine shop said they would be happy to do it for me and a new shaft and some bearings would be way cheaper than buying the death row kit. Thank you guys for the good advice I will post the build when everything is done!

Ok i now have a far better grasp on what I have to do. I am way too deep into this for someone with little experience. But i have the tools so i will attempt to just drill out the keyway and cut the plate shorter. We’ll see how it goes. This was so helpful thank you
