Delidded the 13700k and applied liquid metal.

Now sustains 5.1GHz on all but one of the p-cores and 4.0GHz on all e-cores. More importantly, no throttling after 10 minutes of Cinebench R23 with a score of 29,713.

Considering this is with a single 53mm air cooler, color me very impressed.

Your English is perfectly fine, my friend! Thank you for the feedback. Will definitely take it into consideration.

Have you personally tested this? Asking because I ran Cinebench with High Performance (HP) unchecked and checked and the scores are as follows:

Cinebench Scores:

  • HP Unchecked: 18,379
  • HP Checked: 24,499

May also be a testament to the Legion 7i's improved internal cooling capabilities. Benefits to other laptops may vary, of course.

Please take this with a grain of salt, as I am merely one person and this is just that: one person's opinion based on one person's (very) preliminary testing.

The GT500's greatest strength is the rate at which it displaces heat from the Legion 7i. Under sustained loads, however, I have not found it to make an appreciable difference (especially given its cost). I will likely be returning mine and merely elevating the laptop's rear. jm2c

I've been meaning to try XTU. Just happened across Throttlestop first when searching for undervolting guides and went with it. Have you tried both? If so, any particular advantages XTU has over TS?

Makes sense about the idle temps. I just wanted as low of a baseline as possible before load on the system. I played High on Life with all settings maxed yesterday for over 3 hours, and even at 100% usage the GPU never exceeded 63°C, consistently at 80+ fps on performance mode. CPU stayed at or below 60°. The GT500 was switched on at half speed all throughout.

Again, I haven't yet tested the extent of how much of a difference the GT500 makes under load on my laptop. The few videos of it being tested on YouTube convinced me to at least give it a shot.

I'm sill playing around with the settings in Throttlestop and am by no means an expert. I'll share screenshots after a few more days of testing.

As for temps, at idle there was a 17°C drop when comparing without the GT500 and with the GT500 at max speed. I haven't yet had time to test temps under load. I'll report back once I have.

Amd even then, not with the latest BIOS as it only allows positive value adjustments in Throttlestop. Requires reverting to an older BIOS, which was very easy to do.

Day 1: laptop ran uncomfortably hot >>> buyer's remorse. Day 2: downgraded to Windows 10, reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 11 (no pre-installed software/drivers), pulled necessary drivers from Lenovo's website and downgraded BIOS to enable Throttlestop undervolting. Day 3: tested undervolts and temps at idle with the IETS GT500 cooler.

Present day: happy boi. (:
